Some Thoughts From Santa Clara

Just some added thoughts for the weekend.

The elephant in the room during the Palo Alto- Las Lomas game was; Where was Waldo? Jefferson sitting that long was mystifying. I asked someone close to the team, and got a thousand yard stare.

When Haley Jones fouled out, Mittys offense went flat. Still very good but you could see how much it affected them.

The fact that Sheldon played 10 players. And not just for a few seconds, they all had significant rolls to play. You don’t see that, that often.

I got to visit with an old friend who passed away several years ago. His name was Jamie Angley. His son Brody, played for Santa Clara 10, or so years ago for the Bronco’s .
Way up in the Balcony there is a placard honoring his dad. It’s called Jamie’s roost. That’s where he used to camp out watching his kid play. I went up there and said hello my old friend. I miss him to this day.

Here’s wishing you great hoops

Brody was a heck of a player for the Broncos. I believe he was a standout football player coming out of Redding, CA as well. Glad you got to visit your old pal.

I remember coaching against Brody my first two years as a high school coach at Enterprise's tournament (which I believe is not called the Jamie Angley Tournament). Kid was nails. Very impressive athlete who had a very nice career at SCU.

Sheldon's depth provides them an advantage for sure. Be very difficult to find a second team that could compete with Sheldon's second squad.

Yes, Brody was the state player of the year for all around versatility.

In one game I saw- He ran for a touchdown from line of scrimmage, caught a pass out of the backfield for a touchdown, Intercepted a pass on defense for a touchdown, ran a kickoff back for a touchdown, and kicked the winning field goal.
He was fun to watch.

Here’s wishing you great hoops
