Tought this game should have it's own thread. Just happy that a coach from up north finally returned our phone call to play a game. Kudos to the coach for trying to get his program up.

Please keep us updated if SJB fails to score at least 21pts a quarter. Oh, and let us know if MCC happens to score in the first half.

SJB should be Embarrassed to have taken this game…. SJB Backed out of a game with BG this year and Declined an opportunity to play SFA….

And by the way, you got your story wrong… it was CC that called SJB for the Game…. If your going to Troll as a So Cal poster then at least get your facts straight…. 🤣

There are any number of observers who strongly believe that, "To be the best, you have to play the best." OK. Let's see how that works out for a thoroughly beaten-down Central Catholic team. They have given up 189 points over their last four games vs. St. Francis, St. Mary's (Stockton), Serra and St. John Bosco. The halftime score of that last contest was 48-0. Thank goodness for a running clock. What potential benefits could accrue from that one-sided affair, other than learning how to deal with more injuries and public humiliation, remain a mystery. A much-hyped rationale has been: "After being tested to the max, CC can only be better prepared for the regular season and playoffs." Maybe all of their wounded athletes will soon return to the field. Maybe the upcoming competition will be mediocre at best. Maybe better luck will be with them. We shall see.

To CC’s credit they did compete and at times held the lead vs Serra and SFL. Heck, they were 28-21 thru 3 quarters vs St. Francis before the were exhausted (very small team with many players playing both ways) and lost 28-35 giving two TDs in the 4th quarter. Heck, that exhaustion probably never recovered while getting beat by (maybe an over-rated) St. Mary’s team 7-47. CC was up 16-7 vs Serra late 2nd quarter before Serra scored back to back TDs to go in to halftime 21-16 and never relinquished the lead. CC just not deep enough to compete at a high level all 4 quarters against good teams. At least CC ain’t no chicken!

Will this strong pre-league schedule prepare them for league? Yes, especially vs Manteca and Oakdale. Will it guarantee victories against these teams? Probably not. But let’s not forget a 5-5 2017-18 Del Oro team stormed thru the playoffs and came up short in the championship game vs fellow SFL team Granite Bay. Maybe DO did not have a very strong pre-season schedule, and the bulk of their losses were in SFL league play. But, if somehow, CC can miraculously get by Manteca and Oakdale, maybe just maybe they will be lined up to do well in the playoffs.

On the other side, this brave schedule might have done them in if they can’t secure 1st place in league. They just might have too many losses (and an overall losing record) to qualify for the playoffs, especially if they finish 3rd or worse in league. Still, kudos to CC in not taking the easy route in going into league with a 5-0 record vs pattycake teams just to ensure a spot in the playoffs.

Playing the Best of Nor Cal is Just fine and will prepare CC for their Playoff run, etc…. They proved they could hang with Serra so Mission Accomplished there….

Traveling over 400 Miles to get Beat 60+ to 0 by the #1 team in the country is just plain Stupid by the Coaches and dangerous for the kids….

It’s not Like Modesto CC is just blowing the doors off of Nor Cal and can’t find good competition up here…. There is no excuse for scheduling this game, just complete stupidity in Modesto CC and Embarrassing for SJB….

Both teams, Especially Modesto CC, would have been better off with a Bye week and a 9 game schedule…. This game was completely useless….

Yes and it's true, if you want to be the best you gotta go against the best. Jason Negro stated in an interview (that's on YouTube) that Central Catholic bragged about wanting to be the "Bosco of the North." This just means that CC has to get their talent up and get better if they want to be like us down south.

It's good for the kids to come down and experience the Trinity and big time Southern California football. For example their lone d1 guy Brooklyn Cheek is going up against Wrs from Manteca and Lodi thinking he is on an island with the QB never throwing his way. Well now the young lad had the privilege to cover Bonafide d1 talents DeAndre Moore, Jahlil McClain, Hayden Eligon, and NorCal transfer Israel Polk. Time to measure up and see how good you are. I applaud CC for having the courage to come down here. Now if only the WCAL and DLS can return our phone calls to play next season....

and quit that BS about player safety. All kids explicitly and implicitly consent to the game of FOOTBALL and accept the contact and possible injuries that come with it. You're starting to sound like those Silicon Valley and SF parents worrying about their kids safety. Relax pops. They'll be ok.

That’s always the fine line on putting together a tough non league. Curious how it works out in the VOL

As usual, you don't know what you're talking about.

"Central Catholic posted the opening and, after about five minutes, got a call from St. John Bosco. Four days later, the schools signed their respective contracts. Bosco will cover some of Central Catholic’s travel expenses, a welcome gesture given the five-figure price tag for such a road trip."
