Tark Classic?

Looks like Baller.tv is streaming the games. Salesian plays Mater Dei at 5pm.

Wow what a great tournament! Salesian is going to get killed on the boards by Mater Dei - they are HUGE! BOD vs Chino Hills should be interesting - I got Chino and Mater Dei by 15-20 points.

Bishop odowd 62-purnam city ok 57
Sheldon 82-Redemption Christian NY 74
Salesian 36- Bingham utah 32
Timpview utah 81-Capital Christian 67

Today
Odowd vs Chino hills
Sheldon vs Harvard Westlake
Salesian vs Mater Dei
Capital vs Redondo union

Great lineup. Chino Hills likes to be in the 90's. Nice job by BOD in keeping it low.

Sounds like Chino got the tempo at their pace. 57 second half sports. When is the last time a Ball kid has lost a game? San Ramon Valley?

They lost a couple summer-league games this year... Appeared to be full squads and their regular coaches, too. But I believe you're right as far as the regular season goes.

I've watched the Chino Hills games replayed on YouTube late at night after going to local games (I'm not addicted, I'm NOT! I'm NOT!). Both Clark, NV and BOD gave 'em all they wanted.

Not surprised, they have the most experienced guard trio in norcal, and guard play rules in high school, and they have won big games in past. Will take a team with a 4/5 star big to beat them. Best players are willing to make extra pass.

When thinking of Chino Hills this year - I tend to downplay the loss of Lonzo Ball with all their returning talent. There is only one Lonzo though as he's such a tremendous all-around athlete as he's demonstrating at UCLA. I was down in SoCal last week and thought that I would drop by Crespi to checkout the Chino Hills game. Arrived early about 90 minutes before game-time only to see a one-block line already formed and a sign posted stating that the game was SOLD OUT!

Off topic -- I think the best team in California and possibly the US is Sierra Canyon with Marvin Bagley III, Riley, Martin & Co.

Ouch, BOD held to 34 points tonight in losing 45-34 to Crossroads.
Sounds like a DLS game when Allocco was coaching.

Time to eat some crow. I stated O'Dowd would be the best team in Norcal by far and Salesian wouldn't be close. The Pride plays hard and competes. Took the first of what could eventually be four meetings if you count the scrimmage and a possible playoff. They will play again in Napa in late January. Hats off to Mellis and the crew.

Woodcreek is the best team in Norcal by far currently

Yes Woodcreek is the best by far. I had been responding in particular to comments about Salesian, so I had to come on and take it on the chin today. I do still believe O'Dowd should be able to put it together and be able to get past Salesian when it counts in the open playoffs, but today Salesian was clutch and won a fiercely contested border brawl type of game.

Sheldon should have been in the platinum division. They have been handling their business in the Orleans division. They were placed there, did not choose to be there. Sheldon is better than many of the teams that were in the platinum division.

You are correct. There are many teams that belong in the platinum that were in the 2nd division. Sevwral teams including Sheldon redondo union , last years Platinum Champ Overland Colorado, Bingham utah, Timpview Utah, etc were all platinum last year. The platinum division is purely based on marquee high ranked players that dont necessarily have good teams. Take teams like Cathedral who has Brandon Mccoy who has taken it to the chin in Vegas and even got spanked by St Francis at Jesuit last week

I agree woodcreek is the team to beat but I wouldn't say they are far and away the best
team dublin was tied with them with a minute to go in the 4th qtr up at gridley
And outplayed them for much of that game. we haven't even gotten into league
play or sectionals they will still have to prove it on the big stage.I did call salesian
being better then O'Dowd but it was closer then I expected. O'Dowd is capable of
going on a deep run in the postseason if they can learn grow and make better
decisions in crunch time.

You are spot on Bones40. I have faith O'Dowd will figure it out, but you're right If they don't play as well as they can for four quarters Dublin, Salesian and possibly a few others who haven't yet emerged could send them home. It's going to be an interesting year, and I can't wait to see who emerges from the fire, battle tested by the end of the year.

I remember Aaron Gordon and Mitty being down by 35 to Salesian. I remember everyone writing their name in pen to play Mater Dei. I remember Sheldon beating Salesian that year in the open Semi-Final. I remember Mitty handling Sheldon.

Moral of the story. December games are fun to talk about but will only matter when it comes to seeding as these teams are evenly matched. None of the teams mentioned are by far better than the platinum division winners bracket and those games were all close.

Is Woodcreek far better than Chino? O'dowd controlled most of that game. Is Woodcreek far better than Mater Dei? Salesian was down 6 the whole game. Sheldon will be a matchup NOBODY wants. Dublin should have beaten Woodcreek. WCAL schools will also improve. No one is talking about Freedom who has a ton of ability and is well coach (haven't played well and still undefeated)

I do agree that Woodcreek is the team to beat (as of now) but I'd hold off on crowning them just yet

Well said youseechief! This year we have a lot of good programs we are fortunate to be able to follow. I think there are a lot of quality teams that will bring out the best in one another during their league gauntlets and playoff runs.

Wood creek and Chino are on course for a second round matchup in Palm Springs next week.
