Couple of notes I had from watching these teams recently,

If Sacramento plays with this type of energy they have shown thus far, I think they are the best team in NorCal. Young is a force inside, Terrell gives them size on the perimeter and they have a good group of guards that can handle and pressure.

Tough to fully judge Capital now without Austin Alexander and others in the fold. For now, they have a number of perimeter players with size who can create. Also like Marcus Fowler's ability to rebound and score from 10 feet and in. Mehki Williams has continued to develop after being at Balboa last year. They will be in the mix of Top 10 teams in NorCal this year.

El Cerrito will go as far as Sayeed Pridgett takes them. He can impact the game in multiple ways and has really rounded out his game over the last two years. The Gauchos have some solid guards and Aaron Banks brings a physical presence inside who also scores well from the block. They play hard.

Salesian is pretty young on HS experience, but will struggle to get offense consistently. When the game is flowing, they have the ability to score in bunches in transition with a slew of young guards and Jamario Bibb, a wing playing inside. The play of Brandon McGhee is key for this group. Probably a year or two away from competing with the best in NorCal.

El Cerrito will be fine. They are coming along fine will be a tough team in Div 2.

Salesian if you going to put capital in the top 10 in nor cal you have to put Salesian they were down by 20 to capital and came back and took the lead and they lost. Capital do have Alexander who is tough Salesian had a 6'8 big on the bench i don't know what grade if he can play Salesian will be ok.

Did Salesian win? No.

They have a bright future but the future is not the present. They are too green and remain inconsistent. They'll be NO BETTER than 3rd, and probably finish 4th, in a very tough TCAL.

The TCAL Rock is wide open. Salesian will be ready I think always play a tough schedule harder then anybody else in the TCAL beside El Cerrito. Salesian is very young I think they will come in 2. Top 3 teams in that league EC Salesian St pats

Sac High always had that intensity. We all knew this was coming this year. Way too loaded, 4 years of chemistry, and Solo..nuff said. No true PG (but who has one these days?) and a tendency to shoot too many threes to keep teams in the game is their only weakness. But in my opinion I think the biggest X-factor is Cinco Durr. dude has spiderman reflexes and can play on and off the ball better than most in Norcal. Hes getting a lot of shots off and is the most improved in Sac hands down. Im not trying to single just one kid out but all the other players were known and Cinco came outta nowhere and got MVP at St. Hope. Sac High coulda took MaxPreps this year and if they beat Moreau they should be in the Open this year.

I kinda agree with Dgdollaz, they shoot way to many 3s. On the defensive end they are awesome they can guard just about anybody, Terrell can guard 1-3 with no problem and Durr, Henderson, Gonzalez, and Williams can slow down if not stop any 1 or 2, no answer for Young when he's in the post. the key to Sac's continued success will be health, Terrell and Young staying out of foul trouble, and Durr and Henderson playing the way the have. I only see MC as road block for them although Burbank and Kennedy will play them tough, I see Sac with maybe 1 loss. Would they be eligible for the open with no section titles?

Yes Sac High is eligible for Open and should be going there barring something weird the next two months

Is there a limit on teams from a section going to the Open? 4 right? So that would mean Sac High, Modesto Christian, Folsom, Sheldon as likely eligible candidates from SJS...

Yes, I think the limit of four is still on the books. All four of those are eligible. I wonder if SJS would fight to not send all four of those teams. Sections still like to wave the state flag regardless of division
