I usually don't post or comment on this board but I had to let my feelings for this man be known. He was a minority teacher in campus as well as a coach. People will beat on you and have no idea what you are going through:

One of the most classiest, respectful, caring coach, mentor, father figure, teacher has decided to hang Em up. Talked to coach great guy and he will be missed. SHC is lucky to still have this great man on campus as a teacher. Coach Barbour thank you for all you did for the players I sent through there. Hope all you people who criticize him, ridiculed him, and flat out hated on him are happy. Good luck trying to find a better MAN for the job. Maybe you can get someone to heed to all your demands. SH should have send him out in a more classier way.

Nate i totally agree with you what he did when he took over that program from john perez
was amazing lets not foget when they won a state championship they had to go thru one of the best sac teams with chase tapley on it.He most defiantly deserved to go out much better then this people
will never understand how hard it is to get 15 to 18 year old TEENAGERS to play together and focus
Over a 5 month period along with trying to keep them focused on there academics as well.Damn good run coach B.

Barbour can definitely coach. He has had some great teams since his years at Woodside. I think he got caught up in the AAU/selling his program to compete. There has been so much drama with players and even parents that you don't see at the other WCAL schools. Frosh playing varsity when they couldn't be effective on JV's. From everything I've heard he is a great guy. I bet he would have done some things differently if he had the chance.

This board is comical. Really AAU is the problem???? Haha if you guys only knew. So undeserved. But that's what outsiders looking in do. SPECULATE!!! Smh. I guess the football team doesn't look at pop Warner. Lol.

Hopefully he's not done I was just getting ready to call him about doing a home and home contact. Great guy great man great job done!!!

Coach Barbour had a great run. The most successful tenure of any boys basketball coach. He will be sorely missed. Problems will begin to resolve when certain kid(s) and their father(s) leave the program either by graduation or transfer.

Why didnt the administration support him if it was a bad seed(s) as mentioned above? You lose a quality person in Barbour because of 1 bad seed(s)? It doesn't sound like an appealing job if the administration won't support a guy who was doing it the right way, regardless of his Xs and Os acumen.

I cannot fathom to why they would cater to the kid(s)/parent(s) who everyone knows is getting a free ride at the school. Its not a secret. So essentially, the family(ies) that is/are not contributing anything to the school, where the other 1,200 families that are paying that $15K tuition, are dictating what happens to our world class coach. Something is just not right there. Good luck finding a coach to step into that heap.
