Dublin 2017 guard Timmy Falls has committed to Montana. Falls has put together a good junior year after playing well over the summer for Team Arsenal.

Impressive for a Big Sky program to get an early pledge like this.

Travis decure is doing a damn good job of locking up the bay area talent and getting them up to montana first he gets pridgett From el cerrito and now falls.Falls can really play i think once again the local schools missed out on a very nice player.

What a surprise. And why so early, he is taking himself out of local teams looking at him. He is only a junior. Why not wait until after your last summer run. You never know who will come calling, now he just took himself out of all. Montana would wait for him? He should have played out. Way to early.

Knew someone a few years back who had offers from Montana, Montana State, Weber State and Idaho State after their junior year, but wanted something bigger and better... by the time senior year was done, those guys were gone and nothing bigger came, never played D1 ball... if you like the school, commit whenever you feel like it...

One more note, why should he wait for the "local" schools? How is USF any better than Montana? Some kids want to get away for school also...

Sports 09 he didnt take himself out of the local schools mix he was right in there back yard and they as usual just didnt do there work there were no offers from u s f,santa clara, pacific,or st.mary's.I do
agree he may have committed a little early as there may very well have been some more profile schools
To come calling but like twitter legend said nothing wrong with going where you are wanted.

Congrats Timmy Falls, you are deserving and keep up hard work. I still think greater things will come your way and this is a tremendous start.

It is a non-binding commitment for both parties until the LOI is signed. Congrats!

Wasn't about waiting for a bigger. His decision was based on the relationship that started last spring and into present. I would hope most Kids go where you are wanted, a Family atmosphere almost the Players and Staff, the Student Body, the Fans and Alumni. Then look at the ability to grow/develop as a person both on and off the court.
If more Colleges came in with a business plan and laid out the players potential role along with a game plan that suits his style, then maybe more players wouldn't hold out
Waiting on the Powerhouse that in turn might not be the one once he walks thru the door.

So, as a Parent, I advised him to look at what offers are on the table, schools that were peeking thru the window and his dream schools. Then taking a look at the Coaches and the Players and see if these are the people you want to bond with and look at the players in place in his freshman year because this will be the family and environment for the next 4 years.

Congrats to Falls. Great decision. Montana is on the rise and Decure is 1st class. Montana has a legit shot year after year to make a NCAA Tournament Appearance. What local Mid-Major school can say that?
Congrats again to Falls!!!

Just a really good player. Love watching him play. A throwback in the sense and I mean that as a compliment. Congrats.

Very well said. There is clearly a lot of wisdom behind this decision and I truly believe he made the right decision. I have known Timmy Falls from his D1 days and have enjoyed watching him play and develop over the years.

When parents hold out making a decision even when it is clear that "an offer in the can" is the best fit for their son or daughter, hoping for an offer that is bigger and better than what they already have, by the time they wake up and realize the truth, the school may have moved on. Ultimately, the goal is to find a place where your child will fit, build great relationships, get solid and impactful play time, get a DEGREE; all companioned with positive mentorship by the coaching staff.

Congratulations Timmy!!!! I wish you the very best.

@tfalls 123 thanks for sharing very well stated if you dont mind can you shed some light on as to what level did any of the bay area schools have any interest were they at games or do any campus visits
At all. Also would like to know as a parent who do you trust to help you go thru that whole process
as i am sure it can be hectic and stressful finding a school that is the right fit.

Tfalls123 congrats and thanks for sharing your story even to a small extent. Getting our sons and daughters through school and onto college is an accomplishment. That they play a sport adds to that accomplishment. No doubt pride is in order. It will be fun to watch him continue on his journey to get better and grow.

What people don't understand is its about what fits! Why are Mid Majors on the rise in rankings? One reason is the kid sitting on the bench in the 8th spot at a high major is a starter at a mid. Have you ever been to Montana? They are rabid fans that support their sports programs, and their facilities are nice. Great decision. He should contribute immediately.

Offers: Weber State, San Jose State, Bakersfield with repeat visits
Visits: USF, Santa Clara, St Marys, Davis
Planned Visit: Gonzaga
Transcripts request: Brown, Cornell, Harvard

Assistant Coach Jerome Nelson from Dublin High has been the "Go Between" with a lot of the Colleges. Both posting and sending out Videos
For all the Kids on the Team that wish to farther their Basketball careers. He is a great voice for the Kids.
Coach Jerome should be Head Coaching somewhere either High School or a transition into a College Assistant position because theres a lot of knowledge
and love for the game within him.
Coach Kelvin Potts from the Arsenal AAU has been instrumental in his development to another level with more to come.
Head Coach Tom Costello has a great offensive system in place that I think transitions a player to be ready for the next level.

I think that all Colleges do their background looks. Whether its continual conversation with the High School High Coach, AAU Coach, Scouts in the
Area, Online Videos, AAU Tourneys, Visits and one on one conversations with the Kid and parents.

I think once its gets to the stage where there is Chemistry between the player and school, it's time for a "Road Trip" in which we did back in August/September.
Visits were Weber State, Montana, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara and Bakersfield. Montana just had that Home Feeling from the start. Its a scary thing for any kid to leave home and be starting his/her adult life. It's been a proud and humbling experience for myself. I appreciate as a parent all the support and interest in my Son.

Congratulations to Tim Falls and his family. Montana is a great school. Have fun and get a great education.

What people fail to realize there are only so many "Ivan Rabbs". At the Mid-Major level if you wait too long to commit, they will most likely move on to the next kid.
