Cal Stars were impressive in a 68-50 win over the Philadelphia Belles on the opening day, but finished 2-3 overall.

Wins:

Colorado Premier (80-36)
Belles (68-50)

Losses:

Team Elite Pointer (55-47)
TN Flight (70-49)
Fairfax Stars (79-57)

Evina Westbrook leads the team with 14 PPG and is followed by Aquira DeCosta (8), Naje Murray (7),

DeCosta is also averaging 7 points per game.

More losses this past weekend for Kelly Sopak than in the calendar year preceding (three to two).

17u Oakland Soldiers 7-1 after LA and Boo Williams. That's not bad for a first year team Oakland Lady Soldiers. Just think with high school prom and balls they was full load at Boo Williams. There is just alot talent in Norcal these days.

Decosta was injured and did not play in the final two games. No word on the nature of the injury. Hopefully not serious.

Sierra Smith did not play the final game due to injury. No word on the nature of that injury as well. I hope nothing serious.

That's what I was saying 17u Oakland Soldiers have so much depth missing 1 to 3 players doesn't stop them from playing at a high level. In AAU 1 to 3 players should make a difference in the wins and lose if your a high comp team. Wins and lost shouldn't be decided by 1 player. There are a lot good players in Norcal.

Sierra actually took an elbow to the face/eye in a game on Saturday afternoon. It was a total accident as her and one of her teammates were both going for a loose ball in the air.
She sustained a concussion, hematoma over the right eye, and a broken nasal bone.
She has been admitted in the hospital since. She is scheduled to have surgery late this afternoon to repair her eye, should be released tomorrow, and we will be on a flight back to CA on Saturday.
She should be back on the court within the next 4-6 weeks. We ask that you guys keep her in your prayers. Thanks!!!!

Sorry to hear that. We'll be praying for a healthy recovery. We had a similar incident happen to one of our seniors and fractured her eye socket in practice and missed the rest of her senior season. Give Sierra my best.

kkross22,

I am very sorry to hear of Sierra getting injured. I know that most of us share in the fact that our children's health and well being is more important than both school and basketball. I wish Sierra a fast and full recovery. Also..... Do you or anyone have any information on the nature of Aquira's injury? Hopefully it was not serious.

Thanks CW Golden Eagles and Paytc!
I hear Aquira hit her head in a game and may have sustained a concussion, but not sure of the severity.

Very sorry to hear about any of the injuries ... hopefully there will be a speedy recovery for both.
