He left the team on Thursday before the first game by not attending the team dinner. He was told earlier that he would not start but would play. He dis enrolled on Friday and was at CB on Monday. Saying he left last month is technically true since it was the 27th with the first game on the 28th.

Then you read in the bee today that he will sit this year at CB. Who chooses to sit at one school instead of continuing to fight for the job you want at the school you are at. Don't expect him to stay at CB if there is any competition for the spot at all. He will (parents) look for a school where he is a shoe in to start and be there next fall.

He's been through the EG system since the younger years and appeared to be their guy. Who's the replacement qb that erases all that?

Man, I hate to see any kid throw away a good chunk of their Varsity football experience - if not all of it. One thing we all know about the SJS is that they don't mess around with transfer situations that appear athletically motivated. See Cole Hannum. In this case, his parents can claim that academics are a large part of the motivation all they want - the fact is this transfer didn't begin until it was announced that he didn't win the starting job at EG. That is going to weigh heavily. I wouldn't be shocked if he was declared ineligible beyond just this season.

In all my years.one of.the worst cases of delusional parents and entitlement I have seen. The current starter has been through the system too and is very good. He quit because he wasn't named the starter and cif should deal with it accordingly. Very sad situation.

Entitlement abounds in this day and age. QB families with all their eggs in the proverbial -showcase/HUDL Jr highlights/FBS dream- basket moving to new neighborhoods with little respect to any fallout. To wit; the SRV kid "moving to inner city" Mack, which then forfeits games and probable Nor Cal showing when CIF outs them. Now back in suburbia and an apparent 5 game sit out. Just win baby, (at all costs.)

The timing of the transfer will probably be brought into question. This young man could have finished out the season and transferred to CB after EG was put out of the playoffs. The family should have either quietly waited until the end of the football season or transferred after the end of last season. Quietly...

As long as it's done according to the letter of the law, transferring in and out of private school is usually done quite smoothly. Didn't the QB from Yuba City transfer into Jesuit quite smoothly, a few years back?

My buddy is considering transferring his son and nephew into Folsom next year.

My buddy is considering transferring his son and nephew into Folsom next year. This move makes sense academically, athletically, and demographically. It would be in the best interest for the kids and it would be perfectly within the rules of SJS CIF to do so. I wouldn't fault him for providing his boys the exposure that they otherwise wouldn't receive anywhere else. This move could change the course of their lives. I guess my point is, I can't fault parents for doing what's best for their kids. The key is to make the best decision possible.

Only time will tell if the best decision was made.

Bigg Mann08 what you say makes a lot of sense to most common sense people. But to the powers that be to make a move as you say cause it makes sense athletically is against CIF rules. The key is to make the best decision possible that fits into the CIF rules that doesn't jeopardize playing time for the kids.
also there is a reason why the transition to private schools run smoothly. MONEY TALKS. I was once told by someone very close to the CIF powers that only one thing matters to the CIF . ""THE HOLY ROMAN CATHOLIC EMPIRE"".

@HEAT- very well stated! The key is making moves within the context of the CIF laws and regulations. Although it should never be outright conveyed, many athletes transfer schools for athletic purposes. Just don't tell the CIF that.

@marcnoni that's not always true. I quit a team during the middle of a season. If I had stayed on that team, I would have went to prison for physically assaulting my coach. We spoke several years later and cleared the air. He was right, when he said that I would never play on the west coast again! But I learned that America is a huge country. My goal all alone was to attain a collegiate scholarship and graduate. I still reached it. The move to the east also allowed me to draw closer to God!

I know several of young men who have quit teams and went on to better situations. So it's not always the case. I was just surprised that my old coach reached out to me. He admitted and apologized for his racism, favoritism, and prejudice. I explained that if I had stayed I would have regretfully caused him great physical harm. We reconciled.
