Vikings like Nor-Cal guys

Never thought he would ever be drafted but good to see he will get a shot to try and stick. Agree with LL, maybe a good coach in the making.

People keep saying JB would be a good coach but i think he could do far more...i am surprised he waited so long to work on his arm strength and had he done that before his sophomore season he might have been drafted 1st round after his jr year but look at his combine and pro day and compare stats of him and daniels..far more wins, far more yards, much better td to int and much higher % complete, plus leadership, football intellect.. this arm strength focus of the nfl is overrated

Why not? According to JoeD, it was only a technicality why he wasn't. The Vikes liked him enough to draft him, but opted for a different strategy.

Quite honestly, other than pride, it's usually more beneficial to go undrafted than get selected in the late rounds.

Browning was nearly picked in the seventh round by the Vikings, who instead elected to nab him with, reportedly, the allure of the richest undrafted free-agent signing in NFL history. He signed a three-year contract, including $140,000 guaranteed.

Thunder I’ve watched him enough to come to my own conclusion he doesn’t have the arm strength or accuracy to play on Sunday. Don’t like his size either or his mobility but those are less important. Thing about QB’s is we can often be wrong :) cause very few QB’s make it and for me he is missing the “it” factor.

I agree, undrafted free agents litter NFL rosters so not being drafted is not huge deal.

I heard this week that after the fifth round, going undrafted can be more beneficial for the player because they can choose a spot. Example was Phillip Lindsey signing with the Broncos last year

But have you seen him sling it lately? I recently read that he found a QB guru that has helped him improve quite a bit in that area. And I believe your way off about the accuracy. Thats typically been a strength. But arm strength has always been a concern. If he’s improved upon that, he just might surprise.

I wish him nothing but success.

"Poor build, Skinny, Lacks great physical stature and strength, Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush, Lacks a really strong arm, Can’t drive the ball downfield, Does not throw a really tight spiral, System-type player who can get exposed if forced to ad lib, Gets knocked down easily"

Tom Brady's scouting report prior to the 2000 NFL draft. Not saying he is going to lead the Vikings to 9 Super Bowls, but this QB scouting things is a bit of a crap shoot.

Here is a summary (from 1 year ago) of starting QB's and when they were drafted or not. Hoyer is the only undrafted QB who was starting a year ago in the league.

2nd Round: Brees (32), Dalton (35), Carr (36)

3rd Round: Wilson (75), McCown (81)

4th Round: Cousins (102), Prescott (135)

5th Round: Hogan (162)

6th Round: Taylor (180), Brady (199)
