We can't say enough about how much we appreciate the support from all sectors of the Northern California girls' basketball community ...
First, of course, are the coaches and players who work so hard to get the most they can out of the sport. Their willingness to overlook our inevitable errors and mistakes allows the tournament to continue Dave Jackson's vision.
Second, thanks to the officials and Dave Cutaia and Ken Leffle, who manage to get refs to every game, and adjust to last-minute changes and cancellations. Without officials doing five or six games a day, the WCJ simply would not exist.
Third, and far from last, thanks to the many devoted volunteers and WCJ staffers who put in long hours to prepare the sites, take tickets and work the scorers' tables. Sure, our host schools benefit (somewhere between $35,000 and $40,000 this year, we estimate, will be distributed back to the host schools), but the days are long and hard, and the tournament would never happen without their contributions of time and energy.
And finally, thanks to the fans, who support their daughters and girls' basketball. We hope they, and everyone, had a good experience in this 2017 West Coast Jamboree, and will be back with us again in 2018.
