San Mateo County supervisors today declared a "state of emergency" because of the rain past/future.

Are schools are canceling games for Weds or Thurs?

All those in the East Bay and South Bay please enlighten me cause I could be ignorant on the subject.

Here in the NorthBay it DID NOT RAIN YESTERDAY...and from what I understand the main part of the big ass storm is not supposed to hit until late tonight..10-midnight? So why are games being canceled today?

Best guess would be they're being super cautious rather than risk kids getting stuck somewhere. I was in Windsor around this time last year, when we had that huge storm. Took almost 4 hours to get from Windsor back home to South City. I have a full-size SUV, so standing water (for the most part) isn't much of an issue but in sedans, it creates a whole other problem for the kids and their parents.

I heard of a couple games in the Stockton and Sacramento area getting cancelled too. I am curious if they are worried about team and officials traveling and being able to safely get to the game.

we've gotten soft. Basketball is still an indoor sport right?? I'm with the guru.. see what happens THEN maybe cancel/postpone

FYI, the info I heard was the storm would hit hardest between 3:00 to 9:00 today, who knows.

so how was it for you?? Was it too bad to leave the house in your area?? Had to travel around the south and east bay yesterday and it wasn't bad for me. Maybe other areas got hit harder

Not too bad at all. I'm off of 13 south of Montclair. I've seen worse.

the bad was wednesday when the games were cancelled. not yesterday when you were out and about.

so it got bad enough wednesday to cancel more games? Saw a lot of scores flowing in from around the bay.. Worst of it for my area was in the middle of the night.

I wouldn’t want my wife and young kids out driving on the freeways during the rains and winds Wednesday night, 99% chance they would been okay but what’s the big deal of sitting it out ONE night and being safe ?

yea for sure. stay home, save lives. lets just make all sports in the fall and spring and we wont have to worry about rain outs in the winter.
