If the goal is to get as many teams to bowl games, they should just dismantle the SJS and form three sections: Sac County- Central Valley- (SFL Country) Placer/El Dorado Hills etc. All roads should no longer lead to Sacramento. Let each area govern itself and crown its own champion. There are enough good teams in each region. Let those teams actually play each other! Cut back on the insane travel. Make the events local.
Sac County can host their championship games at Sac City, Sac State, Consumnes….
Central Valley can play their games at Modesto JC/Delta/Lincoln/St.Mary’s.
Placer/EDH region can host their section games at Sierra College or a designated High School in Placer County.
Sacramento needs a section that caters to Sacramento City/County. You can throw in Yolo County and Solano if need be. But Solano County/Napa/Vallejo could form their own.
The Central Valley area is large enough to have its own section. San Joaquin and Stanislaus County combined has a population that easily exceeds 1 million people. Makes no sense driving from Merced to Sacramento or Rocklin for a playoff game!
SFL country is growing rapidly. They could form a nice competitive section.
St. Mary’s, Turlock, Manteca, Central Catholic, Tracy, etc. could duke it out in the Central Valley….
Grant, Monterey Trails, Inderkum, Jesuit, Folsom, Elk Grove, etc could duke it out in Sac…
Granite Bay, Rocklin, Del Oro, Oak Ridge, Woodcreek, Roseville, etc. could duke it out in Placer/EDH….
