De La Salle left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison was the lone local prep player taken on Thursday when he went in the third round (No. 85 overall) to the San Francisco Giants. On the UCLA signee, MLB.com wrote, "The local southpaw has a solid three-pitch mix, with a fastball that tops out at 93 mph, a good slider as his out pitch and a good changeup. His repertoire is tougher to hit because of a three-quarters arm slot in a deceptive delivery."

Petey Halpin, formering of St. Francis-Mountain View before transferring to Mira Costa, went No. 95 overall to the Cleveland Indians.
