Under the radar with the Marlins firing of manager Mike Redmond this morning was the dismissal of bench coach Rob Leary. Rob was an early 80's Serra grad who went from CSM to LSU to pro ball. Baseball lifer. Great guy and a really good catcher. Sort of epitomizes the tough Serra player of that era. Hopefully he latches on somewhere. Played Legion Ball for retiring Logan coach John Goulding along with a skinny kid named Bonds. That was my 1st taste of ball in NorCal as a 22 year old rookie coach. Not sure anything has topped those days to be honest. Great memories

Well said BH! Baseball and irony. The Marlins were at ATT for a long four day series and all the great Leary family made it up from San Carlos-Belmont area. Mom Leary and brother Steve etc were all on hand to "visit".
Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria, as we all probably know is an ODD duck along with some other *^$(#&@)# words. He fired Jeff Torborg in 2003 with the same record as "Red" - 16-22.
Today Loria set a new low by hiring "Dan Jennings" - somebody they had to demote from GM in order to be their New Skipper. Dan Jennings received a phone call from his mom asking "Are you out of your mind". In other news Owner Loria told the press that a Marlin is not a Flounder.
