Serra 5 San Ramon Valley 3

Serra's Calvin Riley went 5 2/3 scattering 5 hits and Angelo Bortolin carried the Padres to a 5-3 win in seven innings over San Ramon Valley on Saturday at Frisella Stadium.

Bortolin hit two home runs for the Padres, going 2-3 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Bortolin homered in the second and third innings. The Padres would not relinquish the lead as San Ramon Valley was unable to weather a four-run fourth inning deficit.

San Ramon Valley scored two runs in the fifth on two singles. Despite its efforts, San Ramon Valley couldn't get over the hump. Justin Fong looked sharp on the mound. San Ramon Valley managed just one hit off of Fong, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 2 1/3 innings of work.

The lead stayed with the Serra Padres Varsity after the third, when they scored three runs on a three-run home run by Bortolin.

Padres improve to 4-0 and will be in action again on Tuesday March 11th at Campolindo High School in Moraga. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
