Serra vs Salesian (DI 1st Round)

Fairly small crowd here at CCC with 99% Salesian fans. Peninsula fans must be stuck in traffic and/or scared to come over to the meam streets of San Pablo.....

Coach Rapp intensely watching Salesian warm up. Serra team looks smaller than I am used to. First time seeing Salesian as well this year. Hopefully Serra can hang or a while anyway.

Salesian 16 Serra 13 end of first quarter. Both teams played 8-9 players deep squads.

It seems like Serra just couldn't put the ball in the basket. It was 36-30 and then the next update it was 48 to 33.

Yeah the relentless pressure did Serra in. Salesian banged #2 Pettis around pretty good (nothing dirty) that by the end of the game he didn't want that smoke. No offense to Pettis who is a really nice player but it was tough for him to beat 2-3 defenders off the dribble. Serra didn't get many clean looks at 3s but when they did they weren't falling. Typical Serra team though a bunch of grinders but they needed at least one other high level scorer to compete with the likes of Salesian. Coach Rapp had em competing though for the full 32 minutes.
