First game today features Granada vs. Vanden.

Vanden comes off a tough loss last night to an extremely inspired O’Dowd, who desperately wanted to open up their new gym with a win.

Granada thrashed Northgate in what I assume was a foundation game though it shows up as a regular game on MaxPreps. Looking forward to seeing their St. Mary’s-bound big, Andrew McKeever and Salesian transfer Tyler Harris.

Vanden turnover, the unforced kind…. so they steal and score that way…. and another steal! 42-38, Vanden … but they can’t take advantage… and Granada with a travel, suddenly we have a turnover-fest. Still 42-38 Granada. 2:59 left in the half…. Thompson steals an inbounds pass, and sets a teammate for a JAM! 42-40.

Harris dunks a putback, 44-40, but Thompson scores inside…. 44-42.

Granada gets it in to their backup center, he is fouled…. First FT in-and-out…. same for the 2nd. After 3, Vanden leads 48-46.

McKeever fouled on the entry pass, everyone was holding their breaths on the Granada side, he stays in…. but Granada unable to score.

Grant hits a big 3, Vanden’s Robinson with the same…. 62-58.

Grant nails ANOTHER 3! 65-58., then they get a rebound, Harris goes all the way, is fouled…. FT’s split. 66-58. Granada with another stop, pass to Grant in the corner, he is fouled on the 3 attempt…. FT’s. all good…. Granada has this one…. I think.. But Harris fouls a 3 -shooter, makes 2 of 3, but that’s it…. 69-61 Granada win. Harris scored 21, McKeever 19.

Tech lost to Beverly Hills last night, DV is playing its opener.

DV’s Beasley and Sevilla are one of the most exciting guard tandems around these parts…. Can Tech handle ‘em? I’m leaning toward “no”, but ya gotta play the games…
