Riordan 53 Mitty 40

The best player on the floor tonight was not the jr. Ben Kone from Mitty, but Crusader jr. Eddie Stansberry. 32 points scored in all sorts of ways including 3-4 from 3pt range. Kennedy had both Dakari and Kone D up on ES, but could not stop him. Crusader offense much more fluid and defense shut down Mitty guards and challenged Kone's shots. Jr. Smith , Stansberry and Karim blocked Kone at least 5 times. Kone had some nice low post dunks in 1st half, but was virtually non-existent in the 2nd half. Crusader D had a lot to do with that. Looking forward to SHC this Wed.

Re: Riordan 53 Mitty 40

Whoa! Mitty has lost 3 in a row? & 4 of their last 5??
Seems like teams may have sized Mitty up & made some adjustments to their play. I've read quite a few comments about Mitty's guard play not being what it was in the past & while several other WCAL teams have some decent guards playing well right now - is this the difference currently & will SF take down Mitty in their 2nd meeting this coming Wednesday? [the last game between the 2 teams was not close with Mitty pulling away 64-47].

Re: Riordan 53 Mitty 40

Mitty's guard play is not as strong as in years past as they turned the ball over numerous times. Credit the Crusader D, though. Eddie Stansberry is making a strong case for POY consideration. Crusaders success revolves around him and the maturing of the offense as they are now starting 4 juniors in Stansberry, Galindo, Rassam and Smith. Mitty has been without their 6-7 soph shooter, Much, for the past few games. Crusaders collapsed on Kone whenever he got the ball and he fought for all of his points last night. Much may have made a difference by stretching out the defense with his shooting ability. Don't think the Crusaders are offering any sympathy, though, as their 6-6 Aussie shooter transfer was denied eligibility by everyone's favorite CCS Commish. Lol!

Re: Riordan 53 Mitty 40

This is a good time to take Mitty down as they have multuple injuries and sick players. When Much comes back healthy they will have another scoring option and he creates matchup problems for opposing teams. Judging from who they played and did with Much it seems he makes a huge difference. They still have a chance at the league title if they can beat St Francis again on their home floor this week. Should be a playoff atmospere at Mitty on Wed night!

Re: Riordan 53 Mitty 40

I think another week. It stated in the mercury news last week that he would be out for 2 weeks, but imagine he wont get rushed out on the court.
