There are teams like Golden Valley and Modesto Christian who moved up to D- 2 in section playoffs, but maxpreps lists them at D-3 for Nor Cals/state rankings. When Nor Cals start are those teams playing in D-2 or D-3?

My understanding is that teams play in the division which their section places them in ... which of course is blatantly unfair. One year, before the Open, Mater Dei and another 2,200+ plus SoCal school were D2, and the NorCal D2 rep had 1,600 students.
What that means is that the SoCal team had 300 more girls to choose from, and the odds are you can find a player when you have that many choices available.

The issue with SJS teams on MaxPreps is you don't know which division a team will play in until brackets are announced. It is based on who gets eligible. For our division rankings, you do your best to project, but there are a few that will have to be altered when the brackets are official.
