Zac Grotz, a right-handed relief pitcher (Burlingame HS Class of 2011) has been called up to the Seattle Mariners of the American League. He was not a prime recruiting target coming out of high school. He was not an impressive physical specimen. But he has grown considerably since those days. He is now 6-2 and 195 pounds. Prior to his call-up this week, he had been averaging nearly 11 K's per nine innings in the minors; his walks had been kept to a minimum. Nice work. And a nice paycheck.

Very impressive, shows what dedication and hard work can do for you.

Sam beat Zac 1-0 head to head 3/24/10. Both guys went the distance. Aragon got an unearned run in the bottom of the 1st, and that was it for the scoring all day. Panthers out hit the Don's 5-3. Panthers got the better of the Don's that year winning 2 of 3 games( all according to Maxpreps)

Remember that's two PAL South kids on one MLB team. And even better, two kids from the San Mateo Union High School District on one team.
