I still think Cal and Stanford should have waited it out with Oregon St and Washington St and been part of the Pac 12 moving forward. Yes, there would have been a lot of uncertainty for a couple of years but ultimately I think it would have been better - the new Pac 12's TV deal will obviously be much smaller but it may have been enough to defray the crazy travel to the east coast they're facing now. Furthermore, they're getting no tv revenue from the ACC for several years.

The music never stops on conference realignment. Have to think UNLV will get an invite too with the Las Vegas market. Maybe Gonzaga as a non football member?

i have been saying for years at this point. lonzo ball went to public school and turned into an all american. julian newman was way better and turned into less than nothing because he went to a prep "school" if newman went to a real school he wouldve been exactly what trae young is now but even better (better ball handler and quicker)

To be objective and fair, running the veer offense with the coaching and talent DLS has seen come through their program is the super rare exception, not the rule, and doesn't really provide a ringing endorsement of the offensive strategy itself.

I mean, what other relevant or comparable HS program running the same offense has seen even half the Local or National success that DLS has? Can you name one (that's still employing the same strategy today)?

It ain't the veer offense, it's the culture, coaching, and talent. As well as their defensive system (can't leave that out!). During the early days when Coach Lad was getting it all started up until they really started drawing in elite talent during the 1990's the offensive style mattered -- but that time passed quite a while ago. They could be running virtually any offensive system today and still be a premier program.

For the most part, running the veer, wing-t, double wing, or any run-oriented offense for that matter isn't going to be wildly successful unless it's in rural America against small town programs OR the team simply has elite level talent and coaching. And in the case of the latter, running that style of offense wouldn't come close to taking full advantage of the talent, skill, and speed those elite players possess.

Which is precisely why you don't see those offenses run by the vast majority of elite HS and collegiate programs and not one professional team. Hell, you don't even really see PRO style or the WCO much anymore, either.

It has been a long discussed topic on this forum how DLS has, for the most part, no longer been able to compete with the likes of recruited up Mater Dei, St. John Bosco, Bishop Gorman, etc, etc. partially due to the antiquated and largely one-dimensional offense they run. Those teams surely have figured out the "veer", as any defense should if blessed with top shelf talent and speed.

Again, if DLS was currently running the "spread", or some other offensive variation, within the realm of the culture and program they've created and developed over the past 46 years -- you could be saying the same thing about their opponents not solving their offense. Except for the elite of the elites, of course. Just as it is now.

If the event was held at a sports complex or gym with multiple full courts kids wouldn't have to play games that early. Damian has two nice size gyms and able to host multiple games at once. Sure we want to see all the games but WE are not the ones who have to play those games.

I am not affiliated with M-A in any way, but have always admired Coach Molieri, and the style of ball his teams display, especially on the defensive side.

Did a bit of research on Google, and found some interesting articles.

From what I can gather, this all started with a 16 year old M-A black special ed student's arrest in April, 2023 (race is relevant to the story if you know any history about M-A). There's multiple layers to the story, and hard to decipher what went down. But Coach Molieri is a special ed teacher at M-A, so had to be involved. The coach's brother Dan, an ex-cop, is the lead investigator into the incident for a local law firm. The kid is suing the school district for discrimination, and Coach got caught up in it.

Recently, on Aug. 29th 2024, the school district sent Dan Molieri a 14 day "stay away order", after the board said he made "threatening" comments at a school board meeting on Aug. 21st.

So, lots of layers to the story. Feel bad for Coach M. and of course the kids.

Not to get to deep, but I am a very proud RLS alumni, but I am an even prouder father of 3 Carmel High alumni.

In addition my brother also graduated from Carmel, and furthermore my mothers side of the family all graduated from Carmel or King City. So nobody in my family ever liked PG..

tender and e14 offer 2 different elements for sure.. you can get high, or get down and dirty.. but yea none of that is happening in Dublin to that degree..
i was in the city saturday night with a girl who lives in walnut creek... we went to a rooftop bar on 4th and mission at the marriot.. she saw all the activities going on around market and she was amazed.. she thought the internet was lying. lolllllllllllll

The veer just put up 39 on Serra, Folsom has put 47 on Serra in 3 years

Unless it has changed this year, San Diego Open does not have a Loser Moves on format…. It is the Top 4 teams, Winner goes to So Cal D1AA regional, losers go home….

not exactly sure what caused the decline as i don't live there (spend a lot of time nearby though) but you can't go to the grocery store without seeing somebody getting mugged or seeing cars broken into. it's crazy.

just making sure people know so they can stay safe while there out their
