Super Leagues DO Work

Super Leagues will work and most the league these schools play in will not mind if the have a chance to win their League title. This Leagues should be run by their own section. Teams that are in the super league should have automatic berth in their appropriated division for sections playoffs. The teams should be in the super league at least 3 to 5 years. This gives a chance to for a powerhouse teams to rebuild within 1 to 2 years. But this super league should be for the sport their team is real good in and always win their league title and the schools other sport will stay in their own league. If a team starts to lose by 30 for 2 years in a roll they can ask to be put back in their old league. This will work for all schools. Its just like having a school play independent and get to play who ever they want. This makes so good teams have to play each other week after week.
NCS Super League
1) MM
2) BOD
3) SMB
4) Salesian
5) Carondelet
6) Clayton Valley
7) Cardinal Newman
8) Valley Christian

SJS Super League
1) SMS
2) Brookside Christian
3) McClatchy
4) Vanden
5) Sac High
6) Modesto Christian
7) Bradshaw Christian
8) St Frances (sac)

CCS super League
1) SI
2) SHC
3) Mitty
4) Pinewood
5) Eastside Prep
6) Scotts Valley
7) St France (Mt. View)
8) Valley Christian (San Jose)

This is only for Girls Basketball each sport would be different and have a chance to win a Section Super league Championship. This allows to during the preseason to play other section top teams and teams in the leagues can duck each other because the would be in the same league.

I'm forgetting a ton of guys but that's s start

EBAL & DFAL PREDICTIONS 2/13

Monte Vista over De La Salle: I think Monte Vista is the better team, better inside play with LaShells and their guard play is much better then the Spartans. By the way, someone has had Allocco's number over the past few years.

San Ramon over Foothill- Smith, Fuca, Anderson are playing well and if Spackman & Polosky can chip in, this team will have a say in who wins the league title. Next three games are all at home, huge advantage for the Wolves, as they have the best 6th man and crowd in this league.

Amador Valley over Granada- I am sure this will come back to haunt me but Granada has been and will continue to be a one man team. Johnson has carried them for a 2 years now with little to know help. 38 last game against Foothill and it still wasn't enough. In front of their home crowd, might push a few others to step up but I won't believe it until I see it. Ruotolo & Chaffee have been very consistent and they have been getting solid contributions from Chambers & Hajian, so this is why I am going with the Dons.

California over Livermore- If ever there was a game for Livermore to win, here it is. Both teams are soft and basically only score from the outside. Whoever can work a little inside game & create turnovers, will win this game. I think that will be Cal but I would love to see the Cowboys win on senior night in front of their home crowd.

Dougherty Valley over Las Lomas- Dougherty is playing better and with much better balance and Las Lomas is coming off a blowout loss to Campo and another heart breaking loss to Dublin at home. Dougherty is very tough at home and this should be enough to offset Wood and company.

Dublin over Miramonte- I would expect a little let down after another great win against Las Lomas but I this think they should have enough in their tanks to beat Miramonte. Miramonte beat them earlier and Dublin plays little to no defense so I think this should be another close game but Costello should lead them to another tough victory.

Alhambra over Acalanes- Other then 2 blowout losses at Dublin and Campo, this team has been in just about every game this year. Acalanes is a one man show and not much else. They rely and Hewitt to carry them each and every game and why I do think he might be the best pure scorer in this league, he can't carry the load at both ends of the court. Lozow and Rameriz have been solid all year and there non stop pressure, size and strength on the boards will wear down the Dons and lead them to victory.

HMB sweeps Terra Nova

HMB put 17pts on TN and completes the sweep. In a game that was covered by CHN, Cal-Hi sports, and the NFHS network. The Cougars went to the break up by only 3pts 20-17. That proved to be a little too close for HMB and Morgan Tomberlin as she came out and hit 3 consecutive threes and scored 11 of the Cougars 18 third quarter points. That opened the game up a bit and gave the Cougars some breathing room in which they never looked back. HMB had 3 scorers in double digits Walling 16, Longaker 13, and Tomberlin with 12. TN was lead by Sheehy with 17pts, (13 of which came from the free throw line).

NBL League Champ

Looks likie league champ might come down to the last game of the season. (Monday Night) when Newman plays Casa at Casa.

Monty plays Casa tnite and I don't believe Monty has lost since there PG returned a week ago or so. Casa is 11-1 and Monty is 10-2. Nobody seems to be playing better than Monty right now so I'm going to go with Vikings 55 and Casa 50. (plus its a home game for Monty).

That would put Newman and Casa both at 11-2 going into Monday's night contest. Newman already beat Casa so if they can sweep them they would walk away NBL champs.

Pretty fun going down the stretch.

Mercury News CCS Rankings through 2/10

Boys Basketball - The WCAL seems very mediocre this year compared to recent though SF does seem to have the edge, although those 2 bad losses to Mitty are hard to overlook. Equally so Serra beat Mitty twice, but lost to SF twice as well. So 3 at the top with SHC, Bells & Riordan not far behind. Half Moon Bay has looked terrific so far, but just has not played any other good teams to date [their schedule has been the softest of the 15 teams listed below]. SHP has a quality win over Bells early in season.

1. Half Moon Bay 23-0
2. Mitty 13-7
3. St. Francis 17-3
4. Serra 15-5
5. SHP 19-2
6. Bellarmine 12-8
7. SHC 11-9
8. Riordan 13-7
9. Leland 16-4
10. Palo Alto 17-4
11. Mills 18-5
12. Fremont 15-5
13. Homestead 14-7
14. Sequoia 18-5
15. Piedmont Hills 14-6

* Does not take into account last nights games listed below:

Serra 72 - Mitty 46
Riordan 47 - Bells 46
St. Francis 53 - SI 36

DFAL PREDICTIONS 2/10

Campo over Dougherty- 15 game win streak doesn't end here tonight. One of the most balanced and well coached teams in the area, they play their style of basketball regardless of their opponent. Hansen is by far the MVP of this league and his has not disappointed anyone who had watched him play. This team can beat you with the inside game as well as the perimeter and their team defense is the best in this league. Dougherty is coming off a very impressive victory at Dublin on Friday night and has the ability to keep this close for a while but in the end, the Cougs will prove to much for them.

Las Lomas over Dublin- This was one heck of a game the last time these two teams meet and I will be in Walnut Creek to see this rematch. Bad spot for Dublin here as the Knights were destroyed by Campo Friday night and look to get back to their winning ways at home. Dublin has lost 3 of their last 5 games and are searching for answers, especially on the defensive end of the court. They gamble to much are always looking to make a big play instead of the smart play and they give up way to many easy baskets. I would never count out a Costello coached team because he comes up with one of two huge victories a year and this could be his 2nd one if they win here. Falls and Knox will need to be solid and Toney needs to be more aggressive at both ends of the court.

Miramonte over Alhambra- Miramonte is the most disappointing team in this league and when I see them play, look have talent but no heart. I am not sure if that comes from the coaching staff or their lack of toughness but it's almost hard to watch them play. Alhambra has impressed me at times with their up tempo play but their lack of defensive effort and or coaching it, is what is holding this team back. Both teams could be in the 80's, 90's or 100's in this game. If you want to see a high school basketball played the AAU way, go see this game, you won't be disappointed.
