Am I missing something on the elite programs in Nor Cal? Monte vista and Mack (they’re quality but not elite at this point) ? Doesn’t scream an elite we have 10-15 D1 players top tier talent type of schedule…….with those players it should be a Grant, Pitt, Folsom, St Marys of Stockton type schedule of schedule
Pitt on the schedule this year. Mack 2nd year of home and home. Tried to get DLS but schedules didn't work this year. Scrimmage instead. Another game fell through and MV was available. And always the WCAL gauntlet...

Palma 2025 schedule
8/29 @ North Monterey County 7:30pm
9/5 Home vs Hilmar 7:30pm
9/12 Home vs Alisal* 7:30pm
9/19 Home vs Monterey* 7:30pm
10/3 @ Carmel* 7:30pm
10/11 @ Aptos* 7:00pm
10/17 Home vs Salinas* 7:30pm
10/24 @ North Salinas* 7:30pm
10/31 Home vs Soquel* 7:30pm
11/7 @ Hollister* 7:30pm

PCAL Gab restructure is really a disappointment (only 2 non-league slots, weakened the league, and ended return by Yuma Catholic game which is a pretty good small school in AZ). Not sure if Palma had trouble finding games early season or just wanted weaker strength of schedule. Not sure if Hilmar will rebound some from some of its better years but schedule is disappointment for what should be a pretty good team. Palma will be better than last season an should be a top 3 team in the Gab. Line will be huge improvement and return lots of skill players. One more year of strength uptick after this year. Not a schedule like the teams that played DLS.

Another issue with these 8 game (and even 7 game) league schedules is it really highlights the league setup. So if you are way better than your league or clearly at the bottom, it is hard to get any traction.

Now when you have 5 or 6 game league schedules, it allows you to better tailor your season to your goals (challenge yourself for a long playoff run, get more competitive games for an undermanned team).

This is exactly the philosophy that Turlock has had for a number of years. Since, and including the 2016 season, Turlock has only lost 3 league games and has won the league every year but two. They schedule tough non-league teams for the first five games to prepare them for the playoffs and also build credibility for playoff seeding with the consequence that they might only win 2 or 3 games or lose all of them, as they did two years ago when they played Folsom, Rocklin, Central Fresno, Clovis West and Clayton Valley. They then won all their league games and the first playoff game. Last year they were 2-3 non-league and felt very slighted at receiving a 6th seed in Div. I but they defeated higher seeded Central Catholic in the second round before losing to perennial playoff nemesis Oak Ridge.

And from Menlo Atherton, I daisy-chained over to Destiny Christian Academy – pretty good for a school that nearly lost its way.

Serra is playing St. John Bosco again this year – and Bosco is scheduling in top form.
8/22 @ Manatee (FL)
8/29 vs Eastwood (TX)
9/5 vs St. Frances Academy (MD)
9/12 vs Junipero Serra
9/19 vs St. Louis (HI)
10/3 @ JSerra Catholic
10/10 @ Orange Lutheran
10/17 @ Santa Margarita
10/24 vs Servite

Mater Dei – probably will be ranked #1 in CA and maybe in the USA again.
8/23 @ St. Thomas Aquinas (FL)
8/29 vs Bishop Montgomery (Is this a mistake? Probably not but I wonder how they ended up on the MD schedule – last year they were ranked #724 in CA by CalPreps)
9/5 vs Kahuku (HI)
9/12 @ Centennial
9/19 @ Bishop Gorman (NV)
10/3 @ Orange Lutheran
10/10 vs Santa Margarita
10/18 vs Servite
10/24 vs JSerra Catholic
10/31 @ St. John Bosco

I'm pretty sure I saw Folsom's 2025 schedule somewhere on this board, but here it is again.
8/22 @ Grant (Should be a good game)
8/30 @ Junipero Serra (Good gauge for both teams)
9/5 @ Mission Viejo (Way better challenge than 2024 LBPoly)
9/12 vs Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory
9/19 @ Rocklin
10/3 vs Oak Ridge
10/10 @ Del Oro
10/17 vs Whitney
10/24 vs Jesuit
10/31 vs Granite Bay

Folsom schedules a brilliant trifecta start to their season. The outcome should solidly predict Folsom's SJS, NorCal and State standing for the rest of the season.
