6 Paradise Players Suspended ahead of Friday's Playoff Showdown

This is a strong punishment based on what I have read.
Not any stronger than Calavaras having to forfeit. When you break the rules there are set punishments. If you leave the bench/sideline during a fight you are suspended for the next game, whether you got involved in the fight or not. It's pretty black and white.

I disagree with the Calaveras ruling too. I get that even if the rule doesn't make sense, it is still a rule and that there are punishments if they don't get followed. Even if it creates a rough situation.

On that point, should we call every holding this weekend?

The 4 players who ran on the field didnt even throw a punch l. In the video #50 Elijah Gould(who is a captain) ran on the field and pulled a PARADISE player out and pushed him to the sideline while screaming at him. At a certain point the rules should be not taken literally, I think only Jose and Stetson should be suspended(they threw punches)

Messages of this sort need to be sent to parents/kids/coaches regarding all sorts of behavioral issues, but this one is not black and white.

Punishment doesn't fit the crime here. I realize why they have the rule written, and God knows there have been too many issues in Norcal games this year but none of these kids rushed the field to pile on or cheap shot anyone. I don't think Paradise gets a pass for last year's tragedy as was argued, but the boys who tried to do the right thing shouldn't be treated the same as the two who were actually fighting.

What a shame to have your season end like that!

There’s subjectivity involved with interpreting line play. There’s total objectivity when a bench player enters the field of play during a “skirmish.”

Notice the white hat calmly outside the fray taking note. Behind him, an assistant is doing a decent job redirecting bench players. Also note many, many ACs within the skirmish when they could’ve restricted the bench players. That’s on adults; not the kids. Failing to prepare ....yada yada.

These situations can be fully neutered with better preparation...by the adults. Kids get fired up and they’ll certainly have “their brothers backs.” Unless cooler, more mature minds prevail.

Pretty bummed it happened with Paradise. That community has been through a lot.

The suspensions won’t matter, this team is destined. I called it in early September, undefeated and state championship is what this community and school deserves. This will just create more drama for the movie makers. I’m pulling hard for Paradise!
