Happened to be down in Orange County Monday night and viewed Rosary vs. Esperanza. Whew. Rosary unleashed a barrage of treys, 14 of 22 from deep (14 in 28 minutes by the way). As you might imagine, Rosary won easily by 25-plus. But one thought kept surfacing as the bombardment continued: Rosary is Pinewood South. At least on this particular evening in the O.C.

Great point re post players. They are becoming a vanishing breed. It has gotten so bad on the Peninsula that referees, who don't see many big kids anymore (hello, volleyball and changing demographics), call fouls on the few post players left simply because of their size and heft. The refs compensate. When little people fall down, it has to be the fault of the big kids who are not allowed to function much at all since they stand out like sore thumbs. And it's just fine and dandy to allow the Lilliputians to whack away at the interior gals because, well, they can handle the abuse. No harm, no foul. So the bigs get penalized both ways. Who said life was fair anyway?

Well said Colhenry!! Big kids are a rare breed! The post game has gone away in place of the 3 point shot. Where would Wilt be in this age of hoops?

tell it to Jackson or Bamberger. bigs with skills have always been in short supply. (short supply?). most teams don't have one, many have never had one, let alone two (think Paris twins). the 3 can equalize, and will never be a better bet than a point-blank shot off a post entry, or more common an offensive rebound and putback. they're out there, but have never been easy to find, particularly in the girls' game.

I have a bias, but at times MM shooters seem to think the line is already 5 feet further back, so go on and move it.

and yes, I remember seeing Courtney Paris and an opponent go for a 50-50 loose ball. Courtney ends up with the ball, opponent ends up 5 feet from the point of contact. simple physics of kinetic energy, but Courtney gets called. it's not new or recent.

I agree that for some boys and girls, the line is too short. But we tend to confuse the top level of girls' (and boys') basketball with the vast majority of players -- and for most players, the line is just about right.

and if we cant get shot clocks in every gym in the country, do you think you'll get everyone to sand, repaint, and refinish every floor in america??

Move the line back. It’s become too easy a shot and has altered the need of a post presence. Everybody now just wants to jack up 3’s instead of actually playing basketball.
This post should bar you from attending any Warriors future championship parades.
