To be investigated, that is. The Turlock Journal had an article this morning about an investigation (with a meeting with section officials this Friday) about some players transferring to Turlock. Well, that happens, but when this happened is the problem. Turlock has an off-season 7x7 and 5x5 program that is open to anyone from any school, and is supervised by a few Turlock coaches, although not the head coach. These players participated in the program and then transferred. Transferring before participation is ok, afterwards leads to accusations of influencing by the coaches. "Turlock head coach James Peterson thinks the allegations made about improper contact with potential players is all just 'sour grapes' from local rivals as the Bulldogs have been successful the past few seasons." (Direct quote from the paper). He is confident that his coaches did not do anything wrong. Not all of the teams in Turlock's league complained, rather the concern was from the surrounding area. Two of the players are from Central Catholic, and one each from Merced, Los Banos, and Denair. I have followed Turlock football for decades and I do not recall this ever happening before, at least to this level of complaint. They have had the occasional transfer sit out half the season but that's about it. Now this is nothing new to the Sacramento area posters on this board who regularly complain about Folsom transfers. So, we'll see what happens Friday.
