Acalanes at Redwood

After being down 39-27 with 2 minutes left in the third, Semetri Carr scored 23 of the final 35 points for Redwood, 23 in a row to beat Acalanes 62-52. That deficit was enough to super motivate Carr to play.

Division 1 finals in going to be great basketball. Hoping to see Clayton’s Perryman vs Carr in finals.

There was the one play at half court where Acalanes #10 stole the ball from Carr and was in front of him when Carr dove for the ball and no call. Parents were upset at no call. I think from the refs perspective trailing the play he didn’t think a foul was committed. Critical no call.

Acalanes parents give up the “call it both ways. “

I watched that game. Did seem like a very tough call “to not” make a foul call… When you dive at a players legs who is heading down court with ball out in front of him. The ball handler the. falls to the floor. It’s a foul! Arguably it was an intentional foul.Considering he had a clear path to the basket. Nevertheless, it was a bad decision by the referee. Like players and coaches they need to be held accountable.

Although Carr is unquestionably the best player on that court. Their were a couple of plays worth hitting the 10 second button, to rewatch. Carr is the best actor on the court. Which is an accomplishment and part of the game. Meanwhile the ref is either that gullible or sucking up to the crowd, star player. Which unfortunately happens quite often.

I don't know if the rules are hard-and-fast on this, but none of the four 2nd-round losers in NCS D1 moved on to NorCals in 2024... So I'd guess they're likely done for the year.

So is Acalanes out of the playoffs or do they still have a shot at Norcal?
Acalanes might have a chance if 2 NCS teams get into the Open. Alameda would get in 1st as a #5 seed then Acalanes would be next up as the 2nd highest seeded team to lose in qtr finals

Done . Good season they won their league and were predicted to be 4th place . Played division 1 level even though division 3 based. Won an NCS game. Although they graduate four out of five starters. Next year they will be strong again. With plenty of solid juniors waiting.

It is hard and fast. The loser of the semifinals will play in a 3rd place game to determine who makes it to regionals. Take the control out of the committees, hands and make it systematic. That’s how it works now. No debating or finger pointing. Other than at the system.
