Well it's official, Adams beat out Lockie to start for Oregon. It's a doggy dog world.

Chalk another one up for big time college football. It's not always just about talent. You have to have good timing too.

Adams is a perfect example of of whiff of every major college recruiter who look for their players in compression shirts and shorts with a tape measure in hand. Kid can flat out play.

No matter how good a recruiter thinks he is, not one of them can measure a man's heart........

Recruiters go for measurables. I watched DLS vs. Trinity. When Sweeeny was discussed the espn guy said, he might be d2 and more like d3. They kept talking about Asiiasi eventhough he wasn't doing a whole lot unitl the end when he made a couple of good defensive plays.

There are alot of good football players that fall through the cracks that have to work twice as hard to make it.

Never made any sense to me why Lockie went to Oregon in the first place. Not a good fit. I keep preaching about the intangibles. Look at 2 star Scooby Wright from Newman. This isn't surprising to me at all. I like the kid from Oak Ridge a lot too. I think he's a 3 star guy who ND picked up. I wouldn't be surprised if he sees the field after a couple years at ND. He's got the intangibles.

Lockie was an underated athlete and was the #2 QB in that Oregon class behind Jake Rodriguez of Whitney HS who was a 4 star. Locke beat Rodriguez out and he since transfred to San Diego St. Being the long time back up behind the Heisman winner and now the 1-AA Player of the year I'd say he earned his spot at Oregon but who knows if he'd be the guy at another Pac-12 program. I agree with you about Book at Oak Ridge seeing the field at ND early. If he was 6'3 220 he'd be a top 100 national player IMO. Scooby is a stud!

Lockie good enough to be a Heisman's backup is more than dang good. In fact, if Helfrich could tell Chip Kelly "we have to offer this Hawaii kid" even though Mariota hadn't played a Varsity game, then they also knew Lockie had the skills. D1 FB is a (brutal)business and the Ducks are a Fortune 20 (not 500) player a la Phil Knight.
