Yes, that's what the governor is saying today. Another draconian situation that essentially rules out even a hint of competitive athletics. It's looking like a very grim December _ and, perhaps, into January 2021. Not good.

Yep. I screwed up for my kid holding out hope. Earlier start and season with playoffs could’ve been completed
California has resumed its leadership of daily positive COVID cases. All we did was keep kids away from school and athletics with zero material difference from those who went back to school.
how about all of the people upset go get tested. then the numbers per capita will go down. so then we wont be as restrictive. testing is easy and free.
Let's be honest: Much of the response in CA has been unplanned, seat-of-the-pants, inconsistent, spur-of-the-moment, ever-changing and poorly targeted in a state so vast and heavily populated that it could be a separate nation all on its own. The approach has been a blunt instrument rather than a carefully crafted and precisely honed stiletto.
i dont think we as california are any worse. you said it yourself. we have far more people which would naturally lead to more cases. however if all either wore the mask, stayed outta costco or go get tested it would help. but i be they will just continue to cry and complain on the internet and blame the governor.
You are correct. We are not any worse or any better. Yet WE by mandate of our governor are one of eleven states that have not allowed high school athletics. WE have a lot of data thanks to college football that shows that virus transmission is not occuring on the field of play. Most of the cancellations of college games have been due to contact tracing or local health protocols and not due to transmission of the virus. I live in Sonoma, WE voted 80/20 Biden/Trump. WE wear our masks and WE have never left the Widespread tier of Purple. Ever. Costco is just a large grocery store, so stay out of all grocery stores too? We as a state have administered enough tests to cover 61% of our state's population. We aren't lacking for testing. Colhenry is right. There has been absolutely no consistency in our policy. We are not following ALL of the science, we are only following the science that points to continual shutdown. We all look at some of the regulations and realize that they are lacking in common sense, like outdoor dining.....in an enclosed tent.
The policies implemented by this state will end up a larger negative impact than the pandemic. 10pm curfews? Complete idiocracy. CDC even recommends that kids be back in school. This state's and county policies make zero sense as far as policy that weighs the benefit and costs of its actions. They are frosh league.
To be fair Most schools and data regarding schools has only been focused on K-8 and not higher levels. Most all schools K-12 will be in person hybrid model in January 2021. Hybrid seems to be the only way entire classes are able to meet and get in person instruction. Most classrooms in the state can and are not equipped to socially distance desks for a 30 Student classroom.
80/20 wow. I'd never thought that. Although I think I've only been to Sonoma County once.
Unfortunately high school sports just aren't important to those in control. I'm sure they know it spreads many ways but an athletic event with constant contact can't be ruled out.
I’ll apologize MC. It’s very personal to me. I’ve got a kid that was 6’-1” 160 Ibs summer of 2019. He grew 5 inches and 30 lbs. it made him slow his Junior year. He’s worked his butt off and he’s a completely different athlete now. He’s not ever getting any interest off his Junior film. So he really needed this year.
Serious question. Are athletes getting offers based off the canceled season? Are schools to the point where if you have the measurements they'll get the offer?
Find the bright side.
Tell him to go out for Junior College team when ready. It's a great spring board for future development. Then, if he was destined to play on, it will show itself.
If the game doesn't show itself, time to move on.

Agreed and we as a family are proactive. He’ll take his chances as a walk-on and like you said if it doesn’t show itself then time to move on
The colleges need to figure out a way to give these kids (Class of 2019-2022) an extra year or two of eligibility. If kids start on the JC route, give them six school years to play five on the field, minimum.
When you say lockdown what do you mean by that? I live in contra Costa county. I went shopping this morning inside of Macy’s and had breakfast on the out door patio of the restaurant. Everyone still goes to work over here except for Gyms and Bars
