Apologies to Humbab

I have no idea what these kids situation is and I totally agree it’s a bad look but I’ll play devils advocate and ask the question what if one parent lives one place and another lives somewhere else.
This was the exact situation my children were in and they could have bounced back in forth from schools if they had wanted to without anything nefarious going on.One of my children did transfer half way through junior year and graduated from the new school

So Del Oro has to forfeit a Section and NorCal title for playing a sophomore for 5 seconds but nothing happens to Mater Dei in this situation? What sense does that make?

This is the double-standard that has existed between SoCal/NorCal and the CIF/Sections for a long time now.

But what did MD do wrong according to the rules? Apparently it was a valid change of address approved by the CIF.In my view the Families gamed the system. They could have done the same thing in NorCal since neither kid is playing another sport...just move from one valid address to another

I’m referring more to the circumstance of it. And let’s be real, this MD situation isn’t the only transfer debate that’s been going on over the years down South.

I agree with your point Ararar, and your previous one, and maybe the kids got homesick but three of them makes me think the whole thing was contrived.

One part of this I was unaware of is that MD has geographic boundaries since and an address was used to transfer.

I have zero problems with the transfers. Nobody is breaking rules and kids are doing what is best for them, which is getting to the next level in most cases. I have always said, once you get to the D1 level, nobody really cares who you beat in HS, except maybe some of us fans.

With that said- DLS isn't beating MD or SJB any time soon.

MD seems like the phony, immoral and win at all cost program to me. SJB seems to recruit 8th graders.

Does this negate MDs win? No. Not against DLS or IMG. But it is dirty as hell and in all honesty, if this is what its come to the CIF needs to come down on them.

I don’t believe that this is just happening at MD. I think this is a classic case of you need to hate the game not the player. Their are some who think transferring for athletic reasons is perfectly fine if it helps you get a scholarship. To that I say why not hand the kid a needle and tell them to inject this into your ass and it will make you bigger, faster, and stronger. If it comes down to win at all cost, or get a scholarship at all cost. What’s the price we’re willing to let our kids pay? I say an education will help you even if your football career turns to sh..

Here is the explanation of what happened with these kids

you have completed the required classes at MD (that you have to get permission for) you can graduate early. But this something you have to prepare for. The three discussed in the article were told they would not qualify for mid year graduation when they wanted to transfer in and they agreed. When the semester was over two of them did a work around and left Mater Dei. The PARENTS took them out to home school then so they could start Spring ball at the colleges they committed to (by the way they did a signing in December at MD) . When they found out the colleges wouldn’t accept the credits from the home school program they had no choice but to return to their previous high school. The third kid had already been on contract and rather than trying to straighten out he chose to leave and go back to his previous high school. So please tell me how this is the fault of the school. Parents are going to do what they want with their kids.

For DLS to make it sound like they were duped by this recruited up team is bs, these three were of no impact and two of them didnt even play in the final game.”

I would absolutely agree that dls making it sound like they got duped by a recruited up team is BS. I don’t think MD could beat them without the transfers as proven by there first three meetings. But I could care less about that. Let’s face it without transfers MD wouldn’t even sniff the state open.
I’ll be the first to say when it comes to HSFB you are as intelligent as most anyone on this board. I have read enough of your post (haven’t always agreed) to know that you know what your talking about. But your whole explanation is crap. Weather it’s true or not it’s crap. It time for you to MAN UP and just say they transfered to MD to play football. So what. Anything other then that is a bunch of crap.

Just to be clear my post wasn’t my explanation but a MD fans.
It’s not even debatable that these families gamed the system to play at MD for football purposes only.Even though technically they didn’t break any rules we all know it wasn’t on the up and up.Apparently even the MD alumni are up in arms and want a more thorough approach to accepting transfers and have only accepted one so far and denying a highly regarded WR from Orange Lutheran who ended up at SJB.I expect to see some changes over this fiasco

How do you figure on this?... How about MD "Gaming" the System by bringing in Public School Transfers for 1 year of Football... Do you really believe that MD thought these Public School Football Recruits were coming to good old MD for a 1 year "Catholic Education"?....

I love how MD fans like to play the "Victim" in this whole thing... Blaming the Kids and their Parents who spent their life in Public School, were recruited By MD for Football purposes, and when they ditch religion Classes that they don't need and go back to their school to graduate early which will benefit the kids, The kids and their families are Gaming the System...

The Reason MD turned away those other high profile SR transfers is because they already had players at those positions and didn't need them... Where they did have a need was on the O-Line and Guess what... A D1 Prospect, Public School Transfer SR O-Lineman Transfers to MD and projected to be a Starting Guard on the O-Line...

I Guess its just another Public School Kid that really wants that Catholic, Religion based education for 1 year who just happens to be a D1 Football recruit...:)

This is all so Comical... I actually Like MD and am fine with what they are doing, they play in a Transferred up, Recruited up league and play a National Schedule against Transferred up and Recruited up teams, so they put their money where their mouth is and I have no problem with this...

Just Own It... It is what it is, and don't take shots at Public School kids and their Families who make the decisions that are in their best interest... Just tell the truth that winning Football Games and competing for State and National Titles is more important then providing Students a Football experience with their Catholic School Education...:)

The only ones "Gaming" the System is MD, They have done this in Basket Ball for 25 years... Lets all just Keep It Real!!!...:):):)

I would agree with your assumptions if MD hadn’t told the Families what the conditions were and then the families agreed to those conditions.Them knowing they couldn’t graduate early from MD yet still agreeing to the conditions puts the onus back on the Families.MD laid it all out what was required and obviously the Families had no intention of meeting those requirements
