Archbishop Riordan Announces Head Coach

Let's hope that the new hire has long-term plan, intends to stay at Riordan for at least five years or more, hires solid and committed assistant coaches and actually wins more than one league game by 2020 (or 2021 at the very latest _ 2019 appears to be unlikely).

WCAL look out. Your coaching against a peer now.

Wow it’s funny to see 2 current WCAL head coaches that coached previously from Texas strake Jesuit HS

i believe that was mike janda bells head coach. but i think he coached only the frosh and jv teams in the 70s. if im wrong i stand corrected. i got it from the bio.
He’s a Strake Jesuit Crusader alum ‘69 and former Frosh and JV Coach. Thanks for looking it up!

With the hiring of a new head football coach (hopefully, a solid pick over the relatively long-term), the Riordan program could be on an upward trajectory. That would be good news for both Riordan and the WCAL in general. Next on the agenda ought to be spring sports. This year has been difficult for the Crusaders. According to the WCAL website, Riordan took part in four varsity WCAL spring sports in 2019: Baseball, Golf, Tennis and Track/Field. The combined varsity league record in those four sports was 1-47. Riordan did not offer WCAL participation in swimming, lacrosse or volleyball.

Yes, spring sports results have been disappointing. They do field a lacrosse team, but I believe they treat it as a club sport. Next week is the groundbreaking for the new multi-purpose field, addressing the facility issues of baseball, soccer, track/field, lacrosse, and football. Looking forward to seeing football played there in September.
