Coaches please boycott HMB and Piedmont High School from your summer and or pre-season schedules. Stand up for Rich and Lav. Drop these teams from your summer tournaments and leagues too. Drop them immediately from your next seasons pre-season schedule. Yes these teams will certainly stink and be easy wins, but showing solidarity and boycotting them is more important at this moment. Show these unconscionable administrators and puppet AD's that the coaching brotherhood is strong. The boycott will be a powerful signal of our outrage and possibly reverberate around the high school coaching world in all sports not just basketball.

If a store treated someone horrible or provided you or your family with terrible service would you continue to patronize it? If a company or in this case a school operated against your ethical and moral standards would you still support them? I therefore urge you to stay clear of these schools.

Five teams have cancelled their preseason games with HMB already.

Bravo... the unreal lack of support by parents and more importantly administration for coaches is frightening. There won't be any high school coaches in 20 years the way things are heading.

Honestly, I have an idea there won't be any worry about this by then... I think schools will begin to find intramural sports not worth the trouble (and expense) and begin dropping 'em by that time, unfortunately. Some sort of club setup like in most other countries or similar might be in the future.

We should enjoy it while we can, and hope whatever format replaces school sports for kids doesn't suck too much.

Its going all to "pay" for "play" model. Coaches are too accessible now. Technology has made it a nuisance to coach or teach for that matter. Leave them alone. Shit back in my day i don't think my parents even met my coaches. It was drop your kid off and see ya. I'm not a fan of boycotting because kids shouldn't be punished.

I Agree Larry not in favor of punishing the kids for whatever errors
made by administration or errors that were made by the PREVIOUS COACH.

This trend of bad firings is only further proof that a coaches union should be started. Pilots, BART employees, teachers etc.. strike (protest) and no one dares to cross the picket line. Guess it's not the same in the coaching world.

I'm in.

With the pay and working conditions that many HS coaches have, it is surprising to me that we have not seen more of a trend towards unionization of even off campus coaches (on campus coaches are often covered through their teachers' union. However, if that does happen and the unions push too hard, you might see the end of hs sports before the next 20 years.

HMB new coach is John Parsons. HMB Alumni and played at Claremont McKenna

Cancel games and then what? Like someone said above, the kids are the ones that end up losing in the end. Unlike college sports where big money can be gained through TV and bowl games, there's really no money to be gained by the school districts from high school sports. Less games actually means less money spent on facilities, staff oversight time, coaching salaries, etc. For schools and administrations that don't value sports, that's giving them exactly what they want. You want to hit the District where it hurts, transfer.
