Just voted today there will be NO playoffs for any sports this school year. The current CIF SJS schedule will be torn up and each league will go autonomous, meaning they will play league-only games whenever they can fit them in (in accordance with the tier color system) between now and June. This is for ALL sports!

The thinking is “some is better than none.”

This will allow each league to be flexible with the lowest tier color sports like basketball and wrestling. Therefore, could play HS ball as late as May through mid-June in the hope that it gives time to achieve Orange level status. Doubtful, but better chance than getting to orange level by March.

While a tough pill to swallow, this seems like the best plan. Almost a sandlot/pickup feel. Go live when you can, play neighborhood schools and get in as many games as you can.

Thanks for the update! Our AD just called an emergency meeting for tomorrow night and I am sure this is going to be the topic.

Returning to the issue of children's sports during the pandemic. Did you know that many famous athletes staged a sports challenge in their social networks? I read about it recently in the news on https://news.kisspr.com. The German national football team midfielder Toni Kroos showed exercises with a soccer ball every day and asked to send him his videos with a hashtag. Most often, the heroes of these videos were children who were interested in the fact that the football star would show their video on his page. Basketball club "ALBA", offered during the quarantine to preschoolers and school students of different ages free hourly sports classes under the guidance of professional coaches in its YouTube channel. In my opinion, a decent alternative to sports is offline.

Oh, I think any sport in any conditions will be a breath of fresh air for children who are tired of sitting at home.
if they are sitting at home that is on them. basketball you literally need a ball, ground and desire to get better.

Plus plenty of teams are playing still.
