After five years in New York, Brittany Boyd was waived by the Liberty today -- ironically, she was waived in part due to the arrival of another East Bay guard, Sabrina Ionescu.
Boyd was noted for her intensity and aggression, but struggled with her shooting at the WNBA level, and one thing that needs to be pointed out is that the WNBA is a much, much tougher league than casual observers give it credit for. The level of play is very, very high, and a five-year career is something to be proud of.
And of course, Boyd may land with another team, as the Berkeley grad will turn 27 in June and remains one of the top 25 or so point guards in the world. (There are 12 WNBA teams ...)
