Brookside vs McClatchy

Why did Brookside Christian move from Div 4 last year to Div 1 this year in section playoffs? Can someone explain why that is? This should be interesting game. Coach Que facing his old school...is this an advantage or disadvantage?

First part of you question Brookside was in the Open last so according to the SJS they have to play in D1 for 2 years. Second part I didn't know coach Que was the head coach that's not what it's says on Maxprep. Maxprep say Jeff Ota is the head coach. That's record right that will go down in history as the coach of McClatchy. Coach Ota was never a coach at Brookside.

What I'm trying to say is Jeff Ota gets all the credit for the McClatchy wins. That like saying Coach Steve Kerr was credit the wins of the Warriors when assistance coach Walton was coach when he was sick.

Coach Que is assistant coach, I'm sure he knows the girls from Brookside, right?

I didn't realize that when a team got placed into Open, then have to play Div1 for 2 years? what kind of rule is that? So not only did it hurt then last year having to play in Open and get killed 1st round, then have to move from D4 all the way to D1. Talk about a double whammy, geez.

isn't Que a few years removed from BC? Like 3? I dont think that leads to an advantage any more than any other scouting report on players. Maybe he knows a few more tendencies of players on BC than on others, but it would still be up to the girls on his team to execute a scouting report. As another example, I dont think that Brian Harrigan's history at SHC lead to any advantage over them when he moved down to St Francis. Different situation obviously, and still an interesting storyline, but I just don't see how it helps or hurts

When it comes to sections everyone know the make up as it goes. CIF is like Trump when he is sign executive orders but the difference is there is no checks and balances. The state CIF just took initiative this by take away Norcal Seeding from them. Hopefully the next thing the takeover is the way section run business. They can make the run the same way so there is no questions on rules.

When there is no checks and balances it not good for school on the outside!!!!! State CIF needs to get rid of all the dictatorships !!!!!!

So is BC out of the State Playoffs?

With two seniors and four juniors on a 7 player roster and a D1 classification next year I would say the BC era is now officially dead. 2 to 1 odds job is open by spring break.

Saw the game last night at McClatchy--too far to drive and watch St. Francis play Oak Ridge in El Dorado Hills. Brookside is a very good team--a lot of speed. But due to only six active players on the team, McClatchy ran them down as the game went on. If Brookside had more solid, talented reserves they would go far, but when it comes to post-season, with only six players it takes its toll on the players. Also, Brookside players could not afford to foul and play as aggressive as they can.

Like someone on this blog said before, McClatchy is the darkhorse nobody really knows about. McClatchy plays like a team--solid depth, excellent reserve bench--no prima donnas. Plays at a frantic pace with speed, and thus, substitutes a lot with equally solid bench. In fact, they equally play 10 players. Jordan Cruz had to have a least over 20 points. Three of their 10 active players played on the 2015 CIF State D1 title team.

Joe Davidson of the SacBee two weeks ago reported that McClatchy's JV team went undefeated this season 22-0, beating the JV team's of Oak Ridge, Folsom, Davis, and Sacramento. So expect them to be strong next year too.
