Burlingame Riordan CCS D3 Semifinals

Stansberry another 3 with 1 sec Riordan leads 38-37 at half. Horrible clock management as usual for Burlingame allows the lead to slip away

If a WCAL team scores over 60 points over a non-WCAL team Im going to guess theyre winning 90% of the time. Over 80? 100%. Wheres the defense PAL? Thats crazy ;)

The Soph PG who started tonight had the best Riordan PG production I've seen in the handful of games I've watched over the past two seasons. He hit some big 3's!

Riordan is tough as nails as the Brotherhood lives on! I am hoping we get the Irish again.

Sounds like James Chun was lighting it up tonight! He's a good player who trains with Devin Williams of 10,000 hours / In the Lab fame. He puts in the work in school as well (4.0 student / great kid).

Refs called a very tight game with questionable calls throughout. At least they were consistently awful for both sides. Riordan went to a half court trap and zone in the third and Burlingame either turned it over or couldn't hit the open 3. Riordan picked up the pace and moved the ball well setting up Chun with some open 3's or driving the lane and finishing. Stansberry trusting his teammates more allowing him to take over at certain times rather than all the time

Yes, you get the Irish again. Game is at SCU Saturday at 8:00pm. There's no frosh game, so you can't sneak in early.

IrishCheers, I'll watch your shopping cart for you if you plan on going to the game. Much better and safer than storing it in the SHCP visitors locker room.

Irish Jeers, I hear you can safely store your shopping cart at the arena, only a 5 dollar cost, unless you think you can leave it with the home team. I mean what can possibly happen to it? As far as the game, I believe the Crusaders are playing their best ball of the year and peaking now and will beat the Irish to win the CCS title.

Winning two CCS lead off games does not qualify as peaking (when you consider last month). Being that said, they are healthy and just as capable of beating Irish who are in same boat. Again, can two sub .500 teams make it to NorCals. The state of basketball in the CCS (more so the strength of WCAL). Just an overall down year in the CCS. But true, at this point if you win, and move on, who cares. Should be a competitive game. I will be curious the crowd at 8:00 p.m. at Santa Clara. Probably riordan band will make up most of student section and SHC parents. Not a big money maker for CCS.

Second the 'Zar option! Was great venue and was lucky enough to play there when it still hosted WCAL games. Even now its a great setting for numerous basketball commercials you'll see on TV.

Kezar would have been cheaper to rent, draw more fans, and a great postgame watering hole at the Kezar Pub.

If you have watched the Crusaders play this season as much as I have you would know that they have had a up and down season, reflective of their record, as opposed to a bad team with an ugly record. They should have beaten SF at Riordan in the opener, SI but not for the buzzer beater, either Bellarmine game, I think it was the game at Serra, where they had the game. This was 18 win team last year, and this season they re minus 1 player from that team, plus James Chun! This team is focused, determined, free of outside distractions and Coach Buck as usual is leading men as he is known to do. They have depth issues, but Josh Boone and Moises Sandoval have stepped up nicely lately, and make the Crusaders a serious threat going forward. These young men have a ton of pride, they know they are good, now its time to let everyone else know just how good they are.

As far as winning ONLY 2 CCS games qualifying as peaking, well as the 4th seed they somehow took down two respected opponents, including the top seed with ease. They are, IMO on the come.

Boy in the day. Wouldnt that have been fun to watch this game at Kezar. Remember when this match-up would force the opening of the upper level at Kezar. Fights outside. Today, even at Kezar, this game wouldnt come close to fill the bottom bowl. Unless it was for an Open title and only game in town. Times have certainly changed,

Regardless of the state of both teams (although I believe both teams are better than their records) , there is something about this game that is appropriate!! SH vs Riordan with a CCS title on the line...can it get any better for city folks (other than as many mentioned, the game being at Kezar)!! Both games this year were close battles, expect the same Saturday at Santa Clara. Each team is led by their superstar (Hollins and Stansberry). Riordan has their core of seniors in Galindo, Norman and Smith along with the soph Chun who has sparked them of late versus the young Irish led by soph sharpshooter Robinson and juniors Dunbar, Hillman and Carter with their senior anchor Sheppard. Both teams will be ready to play. Should be a good one!

I like both teams, but the lack of a true post has hurt them both and SHC has gone into long stretches where they just stop playing smart basketball. They led Prospect 22-7 and at the end of the second quarter they trailed 31-28. They were outscored 24-6 by Prospect.

They came back and played a much better 2nd half, but against a good team...forget it. I always expect Darrell Barbour coached teams to be tough from start to finish. Definitely not been that way this season.

I'm gonna pick Riordan in this one. Should be a good game, but I'll take Riordan 61-55.

If you thought the lower bowl would be empty at the"Zar" wait till you see the vast open space in "Toso" tomorrow night. Yes, how times have changed...

Riordan will show up and that means the student body as well as the families. Wish the game was closer too, but CCS loves the South Bay

If it's anything like the turnout of 2,000+ for the CCS Football Championship against SHP, that would be awesome!

Heard attendance was sparse at best. No band. 408 venue; at least it wasn't played at Kaiser in Santa Cruz. Im sure the weather impacted people's decision making whether to go or not, but I expected a sparse group. Too bad too, since it still is a CCS Title game. Good luck to them in Norcals!

The turnout for Riordan was great, the SB was there and LOUD, although the band was not present, Riordan was loud and was heard. SHC, on the other hand, was not heard and not well represented. Too bad for them, because they played their ass off, and get little to no respect from their SB and fan base. I guess the school play trumps BB championship.

It was cool seeing about 30 Riordan students all standing in the upper bleachers opposite court of where almost all of the Crusader fans (incl many from the Football team) were seated directly behind the Riordan Bench and baseline in the lower bowl. Crowd definitely got loud and raucous in the final minutes in regulation and OT.
