Bout an hour til game time...

This is only the 2nd time I’ve ever come into Sparty’s gym to root for the visitors... The other time was in the VonToure final when St. Joe’s and Jade Smith came in and grabbed the tourney hardware...

Hopefully, after tonight, I’ll be 2 for 2. :)
 
My usual intro of the combatants is not really necessary, both teams have been well-documented on here... Both teams are rolling fast and hard, let’s rumble!
 
I think we all look forward to your call of the games. This one for some of us will really throw salt on our wounds. I am sure Campo will play well. It should be a good game that maybe shouldn't have or wouldn't have taken place if not for the circumstances . I maybe should come up with a screen name like BitterBransonFan-
BitterRiordanParent, disgruntledbryceparent, DisappointedKnowitallDad.

Big Noah Clifford with a putback... 6-5 DLS. 6:02 left.
 
Aidan ball fake to get open... and 3! 8-6.

Clifford travels... Callas drives, too strong.

Spartan #3 with a 3... 9-8 Spartans.

Callas drive, just missed...

Carter stops and pops... 10-9 Cougs.

Clifford bulls his way in for 2.

11-10 DLS.

Carter drives the length of the floor and scores! 12-11 Cougs. 1:50 left.

Clifford gets an easy one. 13-12.

Callas right back... 14-13.

Aidan with a fantastic twisting shot for 2... 16-13.

15 seconds left, Cougs ball... Carter with a midrange jumper!! And that’s the quarter, Cougs up 18-13.
 
Carter with a banker... 20-13.

Dargan scores on the baseline.. 20-15.

Radell with a great pass cross the key to Weaver, reverse layup goes... DLS scores right back.

Weaver drives and scores... 24-17.
 
Sparteans score inside...

Radelll with a great post moves, scores... 26-19.

First foul of the game, 11 minutes in... on the Spartans.

Carter with a steal, drive, layup... BLOCKED! Pinned on the board by Dargan, I think.. still 26-19.

Aidan blocks Bunch shot... Carter floats one in from the baseline!! 28-19 Cougs! Time out Spartans, 3:14 left.
 
Clifford charges! Callas took the charge...

Callas for 3... BAM!! 31-19.

DLS scores inside... 31-21.

Cougs go for last shot...

Robeson for 3... BAM!!!!! 34-21 at the half.

Talk about great D... Held the Spartans to 21, and ZERO fouls!
 
Callas starts it off with a 3... 37-21.

Clifford fouled by Radell on a shot. FT’s split. 37-22.

Callas for 3... BAM!! 40-22.

Radell, another foul ona Clifford shot. FT’s split. 40-23.

Carter drives, is fouled... FT’s split. 41-23.

Nice pass from Clifford for a score... 41-25. 3:44 left.

Aidan with a huge swat! Still Sparty ball...

Clifford scores inside. 41-27.

DLS scores... 41-29.

Callas drives and scores... Time out, 43-29 Cougs, 1:59 left.
 
#3 for a Sparty 3... 43-32.

Carter drives toward the baseline.. 10-footer goes! 45-32.

Cade Bennett with a nice steal... Cougs try for last shot, Carter just misses.. Clifford with a Kevin LOve-like full court pass to Dargan for a dunk at the buzzer! 45-34 Cougs after 3 quarters.
 
Effort level has just climbed WAY up... Even more than it was already,,,

Not resulting in any points, but fun to watch ‘em scramble...

Defense is incredible both ways... Bunch fouled, FT’s clank, but ball knocked out in DLS favor. Still 45-34, 5:24 left...

Sparty #3 with another 3... 45-37.

Time out DLS, 45-37 Cougs with 4:54 left.
 
Sparty #10 fouled, 2 shots... FT’s go. 45-39.

Carter with a long 2! 47-39.

Callas drives, fouled... 2 shots, 2:38 left... FT’s split. 48-39.

Moving screen, DLS ball, 1:44 left...

#10 fouled on a turnaround J... FT’s go. 48-41. Time out now, Cougs ball with 1:12 left, same score...
 
Aidan shot misses, Sparty #10 scores, is fouled.. 48-43, 53.2 left. Time out, one FT coming for Sparty.
 
Hm.. no FT... guess there wasn’t a foul. Cougs ball on their own end. Time adjusted to 55 seconds. Spartans have to foul four times to get into the 1 and 1... Had trouble getting it in, time out again. This after one of the fouls Sparty needs to do is done.

LONG PASS!!! CALLAS!! JAM CITY!!

50-43, but a T on Callas for staring the defender down after... T shots both go... 50-45, Sparty ball, 47 seconds left.

Weaver fouled... HARD, common foul called. Front end MISSED! Bunch tries a 3, trying to get a foul, really bad miss, no foul. Aidan fouled...11.9 left.

Aidan calmly sinks both FT’s... Sparty #10 races downcourt and lays it up... 52-49 Cougs, Cougs ball, 8 seconds left...

Congratulations to Campo on your win. Good luck in the State Championship. Go for 2 Championships a row.
Good job to the kiddMAN for your high level of play by play. Tonight your boys came through.

Obviously we can debate who should be playing, however Campo has one hella of a run to get there. And the Salesian’s game was huge. Hope they bring it home.
