Freshmen game has been unusual…. Camppo was down 31-19 at the half (Northgate nailed their first 6 shots of the game, including a couple 3’s),,, But the Cougs turned thing around bigtime in the 3rd quarter, hanging up a 28-6 score to make it 47-37 Cougs heading into the final stanza.

Can’t remember the last time a freshman team had a 28-point quarter against a legit opponent.

This is just the opposite of the first meeting of NG and Campo frosh, where the Broncos came from a 13-point halftime deficit to get a 1-point win over the Cougs.

Right now, it’s 53-43 Cougs, 5:18 left.

Pretty interesting stuff for a frosh game…

Cougs put ‘em away, 62-45…. One of the more astounding frosh turnarounds I’ve ever seen in my 50+ years of attending hoops.

Anyway…. Hopefully, we’ll get a full game in the JV’s, Northgate forfeiting at halftime last time.

On to the varsity game…. Campo is 14-6, 5-1 in the DFAL, Northgate is 7-13, 3-3 in the DFAL.

Last time, Campo beat Northgate 66-56 in a game where Campo was trailing by 1 point to start the 4th quarter.

NG answers with a 2, and a steal…. but the Cougs grab a board, pass to Naffziger, who does what he does…. 6-2 Cougs.

Bergren with a short J…. 8-2, time out Northgate. 5:32 left in the 1st.

Naffziger drives, scores even after it’s knocked away briefly…. 10-5 Cougs.

Northgate #4 fouled, FT’s split…. 10-6 Cougs.

Cougs travel…

NG #4 hits a 3…. R J Anderson, I think is his name. 10-9 Cougs.

NG with a stop…. Foul on O’Reilly, #11 Jake um…. Anjees? at the line. Both good, 11-10 Northgate.

Blocking foul at the very last second of the shot clock, Robeson at the line…. FT’s good…. 21-11 Cougs.

Naffziger with a nice swat, called a held ball…. 48 seconds.

Robeson drives against hard trapping by Northgate, fouled…. FT’s no good…. NG ball, 30 seconds…

Nortthgate gets a driving layup off, bounces out…. Scramble for the ball, buzzer. End of 1 quarter, 12-11 Cougars.

Cougs get a stop, pass to Landon Fly, the 3-ball flies in…. 17-11.

Naffziger foul, #5 at the line for the Broncs…. splits the tries. 17-12.

RObeson spin move in the key, he’s hacked, shot goes! FT good, 20-12 Cougars. 5:30 left.

Lots of confusion at the table and on the scoreboard, and the shot clock…. Otherwise, they’re doin’ great…. NG hit one FT while I was typing…. 22-13.

Cougs last shot try…. Nope, NG gets a halfcourt try, nope…. and that’s the half, Cougs lead 26-17.

Both teams were ice-cold shooting…. Difference is that Campo has made it hard for Northgate to even get shots off at all.

So, of course, #11 of Northgate nails a 3 to start the 2nd half. 26-20 Cougs.

Robeson with a spin and push shot…. 28-20, but NG comes right back with a score…. then Naffziger with a post move and score…. 30-22 Cougs.

Offensive foul on Northgate…. But they steal it and score.. 30-24, then Mansour with an inside score…. 32-24, 5:28 left in the 3rd.
