Placer 2015 OL Johnny Capra has flipped his commitment from Cal to Utah. Cal has now swung and missed on a lot of local linemen in this class.

US NEWS:

#20 CAL
#129 UTAH

Utah was 904 last year and their coach signed a new deal.
CAL was under .500 and their coach will likely be fired soon.

Zach Yenser, the OL Coach at Cal who recruited Capra, left to take the OL job at Kansas recently...positive that had a lot to do with it, too.

Kudos to Utah offensive line coach Jim Harding for continuing to foster his relationship with Johnny. The fruits of his labor are paying off.

Just as important, it will help in the recruitment of his younger brother who is a bigger prospect.

When I was at NFTC in May my son was talking to Johnny out on the playing surface. Johnny carried himself like a respectable, confident young man. I suspect they had met in early March at Rivals camp. I spoke briefly to Johnnie's younger brother Jacob and what a nice kid. My son later told me that Jacob is an even bigger stud than his brother and the reason he wasn't competing was due to his age. I didn't speak to the parents but the family unit looked solid.

I also got to meet Acalanes lineman Brady Aiello's parents that same day. Very nice people. In order to allow my son to grow and mature I want him to do some things on his own. In hindsight I wish I would have attended the Rivasl camp. Not only are these camps free and valuable to the development of football players, you get to meet some really high caliber folks, as well.

Another tip if you're a lineman prospect and your 40 time is not up to par it's probably best to decline running it at NFTC or at any other camp. You won't get a SPARQ score but I have seen linemen have offers taken back once their true 40 time is publicly known.

Shuttle would be more indicative. The reality is that I want to see a lineman's first two steps.

Good point NCSF I have always put more stock in the shuttle as well. I would like to see a 5 or 10 yard dash for linemen since that distance is what matters most.
