They had me at ‘4 games”. :)

Was just treated to a thriller in the first game, two Salinas publics facing off. Salinas beat a young Alisal team 60-59 on a full court drive and layup at the buzzer... Hard-fought game, both literally and figuratively... A first-half fight between both centers after a tangle and throw-down was quickly broken up. The Salinas center got a T but no ejection, good call imho. Salinas’s coach apparently elected to keep his guy on the bench for the game, though.

Now we move on to Piedmont Hills v. Santa Clara, the alma mater of one Ron Ries, a 7-foot-plus monster who moved on to pro rassling later...

Interestingly, the crowd for the host school’s game is much smaller than that of the Salinas schools’ game...

Hills, using a full-court zone press very aggressively, takes an 8-0 lead.

Quick 6-point run by P-Hills, and it’s likely a done deal.. 44-31 with 5:22 left

Ron Reis, the 7-0 midget, went to Monta Vista-Cupertino

Menlo-Atherton, the 3-seed, plays 6-seed Los Altos next... I saw Los Altos play at the Burlingame tournament back in December, but can’t pull any memories of what they played like....

Seems I saw M-A somewhere, but nuthon’ coming out of the rusty ol’ steel trap mind....

Their records and rankings are extremely similar... like 76th for one and 75th for the other on MaxPreps. Hoping for another buzzer-beater...

M-A has racheted the defensive effort a lotttttttttttt, but they still trail by 5, 22-17

25-21 at the half, Los Altos in front...

Slight pause while I move to keep from getting deafened by a couple leather-lunged M-A fans...

someone asked about Los Altos ‘s size and cv, heritage and Dublin...

Well, if you’re just referring to size, any of those three have just a bit of an edge on Los Altos... total matchup-wise, I’d say any of those three has a slightly bigger edge.... But not so big that I’d call it an automatic blowout or anything..

Thanks! Keep the updates coming; really appreciate the info!

Los Altos definitely has a very high effort level... Actually, both team’s motors are impressive.

35-33 Los Altos after three... We may get that buzzer-beater I hoped for...

There’s a rarity... Los Altos got caught napping on an inbounds play for an easy M-A layup... they still lead 37-35

Los Altos puts a run together... 42-36, they lead... Really liking their PG’s game right now

47-41 now, Los Altos in front.... The Los Altos PG I was referring to is a sophomore, face looks like he’s 12 years old, boy can he play...

Los Altos salting this away... Whomever they meet up the road is In for a battle!

And that includes any of the terrific teams mentioned earlier in this thread...

Last game is Los Gatos v. Evergreen Valley.

Looks like Los Gatos is rated quite a bit higher... I haven’t seen Los Gatos, but I have watched Evergreen... I’ll say Gatos by 15

Started like my opinion might be hogwash, but Gatos is going now... 15-6 after trailing 6-4

Amazing shooting display.... By both teams, but especially Evergreen!

Like I said, they have no size (they make my Campo munchkins look like Redwood!), but they run plays specifically for longrange bombs cuz they MAKE ‘em!

It’s 37-32... Los Gatos leads, but they sure know these lil guys ain’t going away!
