CDPH (finally) Releases Guidelines for Youth Sports

The library is free. Wifi at the library is free too. Most high school basketball players spend too much time on a sport that will yield few tangible benefits once high school is over.

The Library is the greatest institution we have in America.

Here's wishing you great hoops

For many kids sports is there only outlet. What's the alternative for those kids?

^and dareal is.

Let’s introduce this:
“For many kids’ PARENTS, sports is their only outlet.”

Its rather apparent even here on NCP. And few are immune. During ncp-v. 1.0 (pre-Streak) I use to post how critical it was to stress the moniker order of student-athlete. So many times as 1315.1-.3 went through their 17 seasons, I became disinterested in those who put all their kids eggs in their youth-then HS- proverbial sports basket. $Thousands spent on trainers, moving their kid to different schools, sucking up to whomever. A blown out knee here, a three transfer college there, a clipboard holder over there, I’ve followed several for a decade.

I recall my dad remarking on his 20 year gig at the continuation school in the Iron Triangle: “ Dad, why do you care so much about these kids? They’re troublemakers and dropouts.” “If they didn’t want to learn, they wouldn’t have shown up.”

HS sports is fleeting (and don’t get me wrong it was fun to watch as some of my compadres here will attest.) And “free college” after such only benefits those who go to class.
