So much more than just stretching...
I would have all the athletes do an initial Functional Movement Screen 3 Months before the practice season starts....
http://www.functionalmovement.com/fms
If pain is present then a Selective Functional Movement Assessment would need to be performed
http://www.functionalmovement.com/site/AboutSFMA
If we were talking about a Frosh...the Performance should contact a FMS/SFMA expert
in the athletes local area so the athlete didn't have to travel to the university...
3 months before practice starts...
Then based on the FMS and/or the SFMA the Performance Specialist would work with the athlete on the program the athlete needs...I would use Skype...since the athlete still might not be at the school 3 months before practice starts...
First day of practice everyone does a FMS and/or SFMA...so we can see where everyone is....
So then based on the results a second modified exercise program would be produced and becomes a basis for the athlete...biggest problem I see is athletes doing
the same exercises together...like lifting weights....
stupid move as everybody needs
something different....
The week of the first game of the season I would do a third FMS and/or SFMA
since now we are really in season the the program might change again because
now we really need to be laser focused..
That is just the prep/assessment stuff the individual exercises and yes individual stretches are another level of detail...
another level...
I have opinions on most everything concerning conditioning/fitness/assessment/equipment/tool/exercises/recovery..... ok just about everything
