Acalanes HS hosts the 2nd Annual Chris Huber Classic 12/29-12/31.
The tournaments honors a man that has coached basketball in the east bay for over 30 years (head coach at Salesian, El Cerrito, and Contra Costa College).
Solid field:
3:30 Clovis North vs Tamalpais
5:00 Monte Vista vs Riordan
6:30 Cosumnes Oaks vs Liberty (Bakersfield)
8:00 Galena (Reno) vs Acalanes
Monte Vista is the defending champion (with a Mitu buzzer beater vs Woodcreek last year)

Monte Vista 29 Riordan 25 @ half. Good game between two evenly matched squads .

Day Two Matchups:
3:30 Monte Vista vs Tamalpais
5:00 Galena (Reno) vs Liberty (Bakersfield)
5:30 Clovis North vs Riordan
8:00 Acalanes vs Cosumnes Oaks

Not sure what to pull from this, but Monte Vista handled Sacred Heart Cathedral earlier this year.

Riordan employed a 2-3 zone which Coach Buck rarely uses. It seemed to frustrate the Mustangs in the 4th quarter when the Crusaders made their run in building a 10 point lead at one point in the period.
The Fadal-Stansberry matchup was very good. Fadal hit some nice shots and drives during the game. Stansberry struggled a bit early, but continued with great D, rebounding and blocking some shots. His offense came alive late second half with several 3's and drives to the hoop.

Third Day Match Ups
Seventh Place Game: 10:30 am Galena vs Tamalpais
Consolation Championship: noon Monte Vista vs Liberty (Bakersfield)
Third Place: 1:30 Cosumnes Oaks vs Riordan
Championship: 3:00 Acalanes vs Clovis North

Galena 73, Tam 70
Monte Vista beat Liberty-Bakersfield by about 5
Riordan blew out CO
I left at halftime with Clovis North up 48-15, but if the Maxpreps report is correct, final was 69-50.

Thxs for the update. Looks like some teams got to see a talent level far beyond their normal schedule.
