CIF Playoffs

Maybe DLS needs to print new Tshirts with the numbers "1991". They have been northern californias number 1 ever since. And that's not a slight or dig in anyway. Thats giving em props for that sheer dominance.

They were 8-3-2 in 2004 when they lost to Bellevue, Clovis West & Mission Viejo, and tied both Palma and Clayton Valley. They may not have been the top team in NorCal that year, but there were no playoffs beyond section. Clovis West & a couple of SJS or CCS teams would have had an argument that year.

No doubt there were a couple teams in NorCal that year that most likely could have beat DLS, but since 1991 there have been several NorCal teams that might have been able to beat DLS, unfortunately those games did not happen, so we are left with a DLS team who has not lost a game in NorCal since 1991. Not counting the Clovis games, which was considered SoCal in 2004.

The first team I think of that I would have loved to see play DLS, was 98 Elk Grove. They along with a few Grant squads definitely could argue they were top in NorCal during their respective seasons.

I don't think a rematch between DLS and Folsom this year would have been any different. DLS now has a passing attack, and that defense would still be too physical for Folsom. I would say 28-10 or 28-14 DLS.

Yeah it would have been nice to see some of those teams face off with de la salle. Grant, probably in most years, had more talent than De la Salle. But I think the 2006 and 2008 teams would have been the only teams that could have possibly beaten de la Salle. And even they would have had to adjust to the timing of the veer offense... De la Salle is on a whole different level. I remember they humbled Nevada Union back in the day. A team that Grant often struggled with.

I like you would have loved to see DJ William's and Lance Briggs face off in '98. That would have been great. Both were very dominate. Elk Grove had a special team that year and Briggs was a man among boys. But so was DJ William's. As a Sacramento native, he would have put on a show against Elk Grove. That would have been a crazy game. The whole North Sacramento section would have been rooting for DJ...

And to think that Onterrio Smith, Donte Stallworth, and DJ William's all come from the same neighborhood. Crazy to imagine those 3 on the same team...

But De la Salle is in a class of it's own.
