2015 College Park graduate Willie MacIver has been called up to the big club today by the A’s. MacIver is the 3rd member of the 2015 NCS Champion Falcons in the majors, joining Trevor Larnach (Twins) and Christian Encarnacion-Strand (Reds).

And Joe was probably the most highly touted in high school.

That group will go down as one of the best teams in NorCal over the past 15-20 years.
Demers was the Gatorade National Player of the year, he also played for Team USA, he was one of the greatest HS players in Bay Area History….

He also turned down over $2 million dollars from being a top MLB draft pick to go to University of Washington to play with his best friend Willie Maclver….

They went on to lead UW to their first College World Series appearance ever when Demers pitched a perfect game to win the Super Regional….

DeMers was the best of all of them up through HS and probably college, although Larnach was a 1st round draft pick. DeMers was drafted by the A’s but blew out his arm in AA ball and had to call it quits. He’s now the pitching coach at UW.

They had a couple of other D1 studs on that squad as well. Nick Oar played at Stanford, and Jeff Mitchell played at Cal. That was a fun team to watch.

What a storybook debut for MacIver! He not only got his first major league hit in front of friends and family, but it drove in the go ahead run in the 8th inning. He then threw out a runner in the 9th to end the game and the A’s losing streak. Bravo!
