with the new competitive rankings/structure for Norcals....

I'm hearing rumors that after the OPEN 8..

that the D1 level will also only be 8 teams?

can anyone confirm, deny this?

As far as I know, Division I will be 16 teams – there's really no reason to make it any smaller, as cutting down on the size would simply cost CIF money.

One note, though: By my count, three of the 26 NorCal football teams were from the Central Section, or basically one out of eight. If that ratio holds, expect one team from the Central Cection to wind up in the NorCal Open when it comes to basketball.

Geography is the key. They're not going to send La Jolla Country Day to play Cardinal Newman; but they would send Clovis West to play McClatchy.

Thinks stay the same this Clovis Weat will be in Socal. The biggest think is going to be the seeding with independent Committee. Some teams will be move up and some down. Look at the Football seeding this year way different.
