One of my favorite names belongs to King’s Boss Mhoon.

There were quite a few cool names I spotted this season…. Ryder Bush, Mikey Ballout are a couple I recall offhand…

Just noticed San Gabriel has two 6’8” guys and a 6’11” guy.

6’11” Diop starts, and is a soph.

These two are both making their 1st state title appearance.

At least at the two bigs, King’s is giving up quite a bit in size.

TV time out, 4-3 San Gabe. Just looking now to see who the King’s player was that limped off.

That was Xavier Barnett…. 14 ppg scorer. He’s still over at the training table.

Barnett is back at the TKA bench.

Been an ugly game so far…. 5-3 SGA. 2:55 left 1st.

Barnett is back in, just drove to the hoop. Went down, missed shot, but he’s fine.

Same score end of quarter.

So far, it looks like better(TKA) vs bigger (SGA).

Funny…. some TKA adult fans are yelling like crazy about SGA’s coach getting onto the court…. I wonder how they’d feel about a Serra game?? 😝

Seems like the stepped-on-the-sideline epidemic has carried over from the last game….

19-10 SGA…. but Barnett fouled…. makes one. 19-11.

SGA 3.. time out TKA. 22-11, 4:10 left in the half. This one has blowout potential.

31-18 San Gabriel Academy at the half.

TKA is shooting just 20%…. and 33% from the arc. Just 3 of 16 from 2-point territory. SGA’s size is paying dividends. SGA leads the rebound wars, 23-15.

SGA has 5 blocks, a lot less than it seemed like while watching it live…. And a whole mess of dunks. Whole thing feels more like 50-20 instead of the actual 31-18 score.

A 3 and a turnover, 31-21, TKA ball.

SGA gets it back, scores, 33-31.

They’re making lots of unforced mistakes, though…. TKA still in striking distance.

TKA STEAL by Barnett, he scores…. 36-27, back within single digits.

Dickson nails a 3! Suddenly, it’s a ball game…. 36-30.

Barnett, TREMENDOUS steal, drive to the rack, score at the buzzer!!

36-32 SGA to start the 4th.

Alley oop to Diop for a loud 2, TKA answered, quieter, but 2 is 2…. 40-34 now, 6:49 left.

SGA starting to get away…. 48-36. 3:14 left.

50-40 with 1:57 left.

Was looking like a possible thriller for a bit, but SGA has regained control.

TKA keeps fighting…. They’ve managed to get it to 50-43, 2 shots coming…. Makes one. 50-46, they foul Diop, Barnett’s 5th. No bonus..

They force a travel!

Kolappa fouled after an offensive rebound and putback try…. Makes both!

50-46. 34 seconds…. STEAL! Baseline inbounds…

3 goes down! 50-49…

Immediate foul…. They need another. Time out…

TKA steals after a turnover, but too late to find a 3, layup good at the buzzer.. Final score: San Gabriel Academy 52, TKA 51. Wild finish!
