D3 playoffs - Sierra vs Vallejo gets really ugly Friday night

What a great game between Sierra of Manteca and very talented Vallejo team. Vallejo definitely had a better team athletically , but Sierra came back with fire. Sierra has two very talented guards with a well coached team. It was a back and forth game,. This what playoffs is all about.

What was really disappointing and ugly was to see poor sportsmanship after the game by the Vallejo team. .The Vallejo players threatened Sierras student cheering section and threatening the to get them in the parking lot. Well that's what ended up happening. As the Vallejo players exited the gym, it was a rampage. The Vallejo team tracked down Sierra students and started fighting and starting pushing students to provoke them fight, cursing at Sierra faculty and punching cars and not letting fans leave the parking lot by blocking cars and making a scene. It was scary for parents and they ran back into gym to be secure. I seen a Vallejo player/fan literally light up a pipe full of marijuana , and blow the smoke at the Sierra faculty face, stating you cant touch me. The faculty was roaming the entire parking lot trying to stop several altercation almost taking place at the same time. It was horrible. The worst was when an assistant coach from Vallejo shouted it a racial thing okay. The Vallejo coach was trying to round up his players but had no control of them, and he was trying to get them into the van. At one point a player was reaching into his bag like he had a weapon and said, he will end it now. The cops were called and 4 to 5 patrol cars came out sirens blaring to get the chaos under control.

This was ugly and this does not belong in any sport , let alone High school. The Vallejo team was out of hand and in the wrong for the poor sportsmanship and attitude towards , students, fans, parents and even very disrespectful towards the faculty. They played a great game, buts it very sad to see talented players and coach end there playoff run on a note like this.

The Sierra faculty handled the situation pretty calmly, but there was so much going on at once, and am sure that they didn't expect something like this to happen. I even seen some players Dads out there trying to diffuse the chaos.

Sierra vs Vallejo gets really ugly Friday night

Hoopsfan2015: Sounds like you were there in attendance; Also notice this as your first post. Welcome, everyone has to start somewhere. However do we know if both teams had been chirping all game long? Did the refs control the game? Did they try to control the game?

I've been to basketball, football and baseball games in Fairfield, Vallejo and the Peninsula and for me it was clear that Vallejo brought the most trouble with them - home and away - with their various extended families.

Did the newspaper outlets cover this game and story?

Nothing about altercation

Well..the way you make it seem , the scene was total chaotic and violent..No police or campus security present. I know most urban schools dont have 6th men crowd..so Vallejo may not be use to it .Hopefully it wasnt racial chats like St Marys Stockton. Players and fans should never interact during game. If things you are saying are true, no one was arrested. Smoking weed , fights, guys threatening to pull out guns seem little exaggerated . I just dont want stereotypes being thrown out..just like some one from Vallejo saying its Racial on Sierra part. Vallejo and Sierra coaches and admin should dialogue so this wont happen in future...

This reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me about playing against Hogan (Vallejo) in the 1970s. According to him, they won the game and had to be escorted out of the gym and to the bus. The bus had to be escorted out of the parking lot due to rock throwing and other threatening acts. Keep in mind, this was in the 70s where racial tensions were a bit higher.

Ive lived in Vallejo 20 years now and havent seen or heard of any incidents in the V.And my sons school plays them in league for all sports.Bethel as well.

I have personally heard an witnesses several incidents in the "V."

Go to a Hogan vs. Vallejo game and check out the barbed wire at the stadium. It kind of reminds me of the football field from the Longest Yard where the convicts play the guards

that's how in touch you are with high school sports, G61 - you think you can see a Hogan vs Vallejo football game in 2015

Vallejo Earned their Reputation

remc - maybe we all need to get out more

Umpires for example have to get to their cars to dress down but before that we have to control the game immediately after baseball games. I am not sure how that works in Hoops, but there has to be the proverbial red jacket admin people who are designated.

The Vallejo reputation is not made up by others. There have been baseball games played with Under 15 year olds in tournaments this year. Vallejo was in the tournament. The Vallejo team got beat by a local team and things got ugly. A fight in the parking lot, baseball bats being swung with some serious injuries. Kids and and parents brawling.

In Football this past fall, Vallejo lost to Natomas - snapping Natomas's losing streak and the Natomas football players needed to be escorted to their buses.

In Hoops, Vallejo was hosted by Natomas. One of Vallejo's assistants -@ 6'3 300lbs. Team Vallejo's expectations as well as their coaching staff - was that they were going to win easily. Natomas played very, very well and beat Vallejo. During the action the Vallejo HC complained about the officiating to the Natomas HC and the Natomas HC said something to the effect:"We can talk about it in the hallway."The Vallejo HC spun that in his head as the Natomas HC wanted to fight in the hallway. ( who does stuff like that). The Vallejo assistant mentioned above tried to fight the Natomas coach after the game in the gym and Natomas Administrators had to intervene to stop it. The assistant for Vallejo went on to say that the Natomas coach tried to fight one of their kids while in the handshake line - even pointing out the kid - who was never a problem and plays locally during the summer. The Vallejo players were super after the game. This incident was marred by those adults who don't belong anyway around youth/HS sports.

This particular game I speak of was in the 90s. I don't really ever feel the need to go watch games in Vallejo.

No thank you!

I like my bubble like Quaffer likes Sonoma County

no, g61. you said, "go to a Hogan vs vallejo game and check out the barbed wire at the stadium." Now you say your talking about a game in the 90s? how can we go check out something in the 90s? it's OK that you didn't know Hogan is a middle school now. we don't expect you to know facts on here.

Fights and ugly scenes can happen anywhere. You can go to a Davis vs Woodland high back in the day and hear about the same stuff. But as for Vallejo I will keep driving on 80 either west or eastbound. No reason for me to stop. That city has just crumbled.

The fact that I didn't know Hogan is a junior high now just shows you how much I care for Vallejo or EVER go there. The answer is ZERO. Any city with barbed wire in a stadium is no place for me.

I prefer my kettle corn and tri trip at Prairie City Stadium for the Folsom games

Ignorance? I think you need to look up that word...

Education is they key to everything...take it seriously
eek.r191677.gif

You still never gave me the definition of ignorance. That tells me either you were wrong completely or never bothered to look it up.

Being uneducated can be considered "ignorant" to may people

Go back and read. Think.

Re: Vallejo Earned their Reputation

Well BK,I dont doubt any of the stories, just saying I havent experienced it.And Ive coached Little League in that town, have brought my teams to all 3 little leagues there, while coaching at East Vallejo LL.Lived in North Vallejo my first 3 years, the `bad` part of town.Never had any problems.Been to alot of Vallejo High football games ,when I first moved there Vallejo was a formidable football school.Ive seen parents yelling at coaches, and yelling at refs and umps.Just never experienced the violence you`ve desribed.Had a son that played football and track for Benicia,so Id be over at Corbus at least a few times a season.Mostly night games I might add.Again, dont doubt the stories, just never happened to me.Actually,Vallejo isnt near as bad as the rep. There are some very nice neighborhoods in Vallejo, and some nice areas. There are also some risky areas in town. But not nearly the whole town.

The word "ignorant" is a common word used by uneducated people, on social media, when they do not agree with what your opinion is.

Dont be one of those people...

Clearly you are a step behind

Re: Vallejo Earned their Reputation

Sorry to disappoint you then REMC. Another time in the 1990's there was a baseball tournament at Fitzgerald Field in Central Park - San Mateo - corner of 5th ave and El Camino. There were about 8 teams in this summer tournament.

It was very hot for San Mateo, upper 90's. Plate umpire went through about three bottled waters and then his girl friend or wife provided each new bottle through a slide opening in the fence.

Vallejo team was losing big and when they observed the connection between the UP and his lady - they started in on her as well as almost every call he made. Some of the sailor language was disgusting. Finally one of the spectators called the local PD to come to the field.

It was very ugly and has no place in sports.

Re: Vallejo Earned their Reputation

Wow,well that certainly sounds ugly.Seems like it doesnt matter where the games are played. What age group was it.HS? Pony, American Legion? Very disappointing to hear.

Actually, I prefer to go by the fact that the word ignorant is used to describe someone who lacks knowledge or awareness. Which, by definition, describes you. G61.

I like that one...That means you actually "googled" it.

We are making strides in our education little man
laugh.r191677.gif

no, it means that i actually own a dictionary;and use it. Please, dont tell me you had to google the word ignorant. That would be incredibly sad, and true to the term as well. The folsom elders would look down on you if this was true.

With your current use of grammar, I highly doubt you used a dictionary to look that word up. You don't capitalize things and your word usage is awful.

I can tell you are not educated...
laugh.r191677.gif

Would you like me to help you? I tutor on the side

you're right, I don't capitalize anything. I just type on my go sms keyboard and let the auto correct do what it will. Are you telling me that my inability to use caps is worse than your ignorance?

How can anyone take you seriously!?

You can't even write in an educated manner!

The first sign of an uneducated person is their inability to write in a semi-professional manner
laugh.r191677.gif

Go away little man
uzi.r191677.gif

Are you implying that norcalpreps.com is a place for semi-professionals? If so, what are your credentials to be here?

anyone who responds to G61 is more of a jackass than him..but thanks for taking me back to the 6th grade fellas..

Not a problem. considering this site is a shell of what it used to be, I wanted to have a little fun before I delete my account. Thanks for taking it seriously, guy!

I am glad you are deleting your account. The goal is to get random people who offer nothing to the forum out of here.

And Dgdolla- Don't hate... You don't want to be on the G61 radar
