International of SF faces Diamond Ranch of Pomona.

Both are making their first state finals appearance.

I picked International to win by 12. They are ranked a LOT higher by Maxpreps, 37th to 184th.

International has a SoS of 4.4, Diamond Ranch is at 0.0.

A team with a SOS of 0.0 should not be playing for a state championship

But hopefully international wins and gets their first state title. They are truly the best D5 team in California right now.

TV time out…. 26-19 Diamond Ranch. Michael Salazar leads them with 12, while Maguire has 10 for International.

Whatever the International coach said, it lit a fire…. Kids came out with renewed energy…. 30-24, International ball…. A couple tries, nope.. 30-24 at the half.

First play of the 3rd, DR center Jaden Pullian gets his 3rd…

Welch of International is playing with 3…. Wesley Mondrangon of DR got his 3rd as I typed this.

Welch scores, DR turns it over, time out.

This game is turning bigtime. and Maguire scores to tie it at 31.

39 seconds 3rd…

DR scores to stop the bleeding, then International turns it over, which leads to a DR score. 45-40, a game that looked like a possible runaway suddenly…. Isn’t. 45-40 to start the 4th.

MVP MVP MVP!! the International section shouts…. Maguire has taken this thing over!

23 points, 6 boards, 5 dimes, 3 steals…. Just forced a travel.

58-48 International, 3:58 left. Two DR stars on the floor with 4 fouls…

oh, the swats DO show up there…. He has 7 to go along with 17 rebounds.

Maguire has a nice line…. 28-6-5 plus 3 steals.

The other DR star, Pullian, fouls out.

Final…. 71-52. Maguire ends up with 32-7-5. Quite a performance!

Beat my 12-point spread, too.

47-22 2nd half, my DVC math skills say…
