Davis High's Dorothy Speck Tournament starts today

Per the Davis Enterprise newspaper Sports section yesterday:
The Davis High School's 50th annual Dorothy Speck tournament is LOADED this year with a combined record last season of 165-72 (a 69.6 winning percentage). Three of the (Sac-Joaquin) section's Final Four -- Folsom, McClatchy and Antelope -- are in attendance.

Today's schedule with last season's records.
Nevada Union (4-16) vs. Folsom (26-3) at 3:30 p.m.
Vista Del Lago (24-8) vs Pleasant Valley of Chico (30-4) at 5 p.m.
Lincoln of Stockton (18-11) vs. McClatchy (25-7) at 6:30 p.m.
Davis (12-18) vs. Antelope (26-5) at 8 p.m.

Always one of the best December tournaments and this year is no differnet. PV and VDL is a really good first round matchup

Folsom beat Davis, 86-17 (Nevada Union dropped out)
Pleasant Valley of Chico beat Vista del Lago, 53-45

Note: Host team Davis played a double-header due to Nevada Union dropping out; playing at 3:30 pm against Folsom and at 8 pm against Antelope--that's pretty tough.

Lower Half
McClatchy beat Lincoln of Stockton, 60-48
Antelope beat Davis, 78-27

Friday, Day 2 games:
Vista del Lago vs. Lincoln of Stockton presumably at 5:00 p.m.
Folsom vs. Pleasant Valley of Chico presumably at 6:30 p.m.
McClatchy vs. Antelope at 8:00 p.m.

(Davis will not play Friday, but will resume on Day 3, Saturday)

Tough spot for Davis with a late drop off but honorable of them to play twice on Thursday. This is a always a good early measuring stick for teams

Lincoln of Stockton sqeeks by Vista del Lago, 55-53 on a game winning put-back at the buzzer.
Folsom overwhelms Pleasant Valley of Chico, 70-39
McClatchy beats Antelope, 62-55

Day 3:
Folsom vs. McClatchy in championship game (Folsom heavily favored as defending champion)

Final:
Folsom beat McClatchy, 64-57. Folsom lead the entire game but McClatchy was always lurking within single digits.

Pleasant Valley Chico beat Antelope fairly easily. Antelope lives and dies by the three-point shot and could not make any today.
